TRODUCTION
In October 1983 a group of 56 contiguous claims were staked by C.D. Huston and Sonson behalf of Getty Canadian Metals, Limited. The group consists of claims numbered:
775224 - 775227 inclusive775230 - 775240 inclusive775242 - 775248 inclusive775250 - 775256 inclusive775258 - 775260 inclusive775262 - 775264 inclusive775266 - 775267 inclusive775269 - 775272 inclusive775277 - 775279 inclusive775282-775287 inclusive775290 - 775295 inclusive
In February 1984 8 contiguous claims were staked adjacent to and adjoining the above listed claims by Getty personnel. The block consists of claims numbered 775859 to 775866 inclusive. This report discusses the results of a detailed geological mapping survey over the 64 unpatented mining claims completed by Getty personnel during the summer of 1984. These claims will be referred to as the Papaonga Lake "Central" Claim Group.
LOCATION AND ACCESS
The survey area is located approximately 110 km east-southeast of the town of Red Lake in the District of Kenora, Northwestern, Ontario. Bordering the north bay of Papaonga Lake and extending to the east it may be located on the Avis Lake and Currie Lake claim maps which are part of N.T.S. map sheet 52K/16. Access is by float or ski plane from Red Lake or Sioux Lookout.

EXPLORATION HISTORY AND PREVIOUS WORK
Past work performed on these claims consists of a regional airborne magnetometer and EM survey flown by Continental Mining Exploration Limited in 1956. A ground magnetometer survey by El Sol Mining Limited was carried out on the east part of the claims in 1957. A regional iron formation was defined and two diamond drill holes were collared in an area approximately 500 m north of the central portion of the present claim groups. Considerable lengths of oxide facies iron formation were encountered in these diamond drill holes.

r.EOLOGY
(a) Work Program
The geological survey was conducted during the months of Duly and August, by Getty Canadian Metals, Limited personnel. The geological mapping was carried out at a scale of 1:5000 on lines spaced no more than 130 metres apart. Topographic maps, air photos and pace and compass lines were used for control. All north-south claim lines were walked in the process of locating and tying in claim posts.
Significant geological structures, mineralization and topographic features were recorded as stipulated by requirements for submitting geophysical, geological and geochemical survey reports (Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources).
(b) Property Geology
The claim group is predominantly underlain by mafic volcanic rocks, metasediments and mafic to intermediate intrusive rocks. These units generally have an east-west strike direction.
The west part of the claim group is underlain by diorite and biotite hornblende- biotite quartz diorite. Adjoining these units, to the southeast and on the northwest part of the north arm of Papaonga Lake is a unit of greywacke with interbedded iron formation. To the north of these sediments and immediately south of the diorites is a mafic volcanic unit which extends to the east boundary of the claims as well as east of the north arm of Papaonga Lake. Underlying the eastern part of the claims, north of the mafic volcanics is a band of greywacke and intermediate tuff. Another band of mafic volcanics is found north of the greywacke and south of a band of sediments which was observed to be siliceous siltstones. The extreme northeast corner of the claim group hosts a small mafic intrusive unit consisting of diorite-gabbro. A quartz-feldspar porphyry intrusive was mapped in one outcrop in the north central part of the claims.
Mineralization observed within the claim group consists of pyrite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite and oxide facies iron formation. A contorted iron formation is located on the east shore of the north arm of Papaonga Lake in claim number 775260. The iron formation consists of banded chert, magnetite and siltstone with associated 296 to 596 pyrite and rare chalcopyrite. Trace amounts of pyrite and arsenopyrite are found in the mafic volcanics and the sediments.
Alteration occurs in the form of silicification, carbonatization and less evidently in the form of sericitization and chloritization. Silicification and sericitization is predominantly found in the sediments while the carbonatization and chlorite alteration is found in the mafic volcanics. The metamorphic grade of these rocks is middle to upper greenschist facies.

Notice of Intent
for Technical Reports
1985 02 12
2.7521/71-84
An examination of your survey report indicates that the requirements of The Ontario Mining Act have not been fully met to warrant maximum assessment work credits. This notice is merely a warning that you will not be allowed the number of assessment work days credits that you expected and also that in approximately 15 days from the above date, the mining recorder will be authorized to change the entries on his record sheets to agree with the enclosed statement. Please note that until such time as the recorder actually changes the entry on the record sheet, the status of the claim remains unchanged.
If you are of the opinion that these changes by the mining recorder will jeopardize your claims, you may during the next fifteen days apply to the Mining and Lands Commissioner for an extension of time. Abstracts should be sent with your application.
If the reduced rate of credits does not jeopardize the status of the claims then you need not seek relief from the Mining and Lands Commissioner and this Notice of Intent may be disregarded.
If your survey was submitted and assessed under the "Special Provision-Performance and Coverage" method and you are of the opinion that a re-appraisal under the "Man-days" method would result in the approval of a greater number of days credit per claim, you may, within the said fifteen day period, submit assessment work breakdowns listing the employees names, addresses and the dates and hours they worked. The new work breakdowns should be submitted direct to the Land Management Branch, Toronto. The report will be re-assessed and a new statement of credits based on actual days worked will be issued.
