EDITOR : Dr P. A. PATEL (JYOTISHI ANAND)
Astrology is in use since thou-sands of years and its roots are inVEDAS, the sacred books of the Hin-dus, which is considered to be theoldest scriptures in theWORLD.Sincetime immemorial it is in use, althoughit has always been modified, with thetime. It is always abused by most of thepeople of the world openly, but in se-cret most of them are the strong be-liever of Astrology and use it in secret. They do seek the advice of the astrolo-gers when they are in difficulties, prob-lems and when they are tired of the lifeand left no alternative for them. Thelast resort for them is to consult theastrologer for his astrological guid-ance and remedial measures. I haveseen many politicians, who do not takea step forward, without first consultingthe astrologer, or his stars beingchecked. This is most common in In-dia, and the whole sub continent.
No doubt Astrology has been mis-used and people are looted by Char-latans or so called Astrologers, whohave no knowledge of Astrology at allor very little knowledge of Astrology.Their main job is to misuse Astrology. In the name of "Astrology" and luringadvertisements in the media, manystrong believers of Astrology, are be-ing cheated. Those who are thuscheated lose faith in Astrology. Theydisbelieve Astrology due to their badexperiences of so called Astrologers,
who cheated, frightened and looted. Thus not only they lose their moneybut also their good faith in Astrology. These are the evils of our society andwe cannot prevent it. Such incidents

are always take place. But due tosuch incidents, we must not blamethe sacred subject of Astrology butwe must blame those Charlatansand Cheaters who misguide thepeople in the name of Astrology.
Scientists are always against As-trology, although they know precisely
well, that Astrology is theScience ofthe Stars or a part of Astronomy, whose effects or vibrations are ap-plied to the life of man. Well, we do notwant to enter into discussions aboutscientific approach of Astrology! Sci-entists have day to day practice ofabusing the subject of astrology, byclaiming "Astrology is not a Science!"But Astrology doesn't require a cer-tificate from anybody to prove that it isindeed a Science, as it itself is aperfect Science!
We are talking about the VedicHindu Astrology and its Predictivepotential. Is Hindu Astrology usefuland gives guidance? In what wayHindu Astrology helps the advice
seekers? Is Hindu Astrology is likethe SUN SIGN Astrology and givescharacter readings only? No, HinduAstrology is not so. It is very precise. It has many different areas, divisions, and inner systems which can be ofgreat help to a mankind! It's beauty isin its power of Prediction! There aresome in the Western world who dis-like Hindu Astrology, and alwaysspeak against it. Well, I advise themto study Hindu Astrology in greaterdepth and then test it. I am sure bydoing this they will get surprising ef-
fects or results from Hindu Astrology.Nobody has a right to criticise anysystem without knowing or studying it
in greater depth. That is my own belief! It requires deep study and knowledgeto judge it.
What does a client expect from acompetent astrologer? Can he be sat-isfied with his character readings? Inwhat way character reading is helpful tohim? Then what is the right reply? The
answer is Hindu Astrology! Hindu As-trology is becoming more and morepopular in the Western world like theother successful entry of Ayurveda, theforgotten old science of Indian Systemof Medicines.
Astrology is a perfect science andit is useless, if it cannot deliver its goodsin a healthy manner or help or guide theadvice seekers. Advice seekers alwaysexpect some help regarding their ownproblems. Is astrology helpful to a man-kind? Has it got ability to guide thepeople? If no then, what is the use of
spending money in astrology, if it can-not be helpful, give guidance or makesomeone more happier and healthier?
Hindu Vedic Astrology can givethe right replies to all these difficultquestions. It not only helps the client, but guides him in a proper way. HinduVedic Astrology has the ability to givewell in advance, the indications andforecasts with the help of the charts,Dasha System, different Yogas andRajayogas. Hindu Astrology can pre-cisely forecast in advance, the prob-lems regarding health problems, mar-
riage, profession, career, love life, ac-cidents, and coming mishaps. It's abilityin advance forecasting the events isindeed helpful to mankind!

Everyone is searching for peace inone way or another. If it is not peace, ahappiness. Happiness? What is happi-ness? Is it the happiness we get frommaterialistic things? Perhaps, that happi-ness is based a temporary one. Yet we failto realise that, that kind of happiness isnot a lasting one. People have taken upmany ways to find peace, through medita-tion, Yoga, Intoxication, etc. This is theage of Kaliyug and people are going to beblinded by Moha maya - or illusion. Nomaterialistic happiness can give a manlasting peace and happiness.
One should be able to find peacethrough the path of Bhakti Yoga or devo-
tion. What can be more peaceful thanKrishna Bhakti? The process towards aBhakti Yoga starts when a person realisesthat he/she is an eternalatma or soulandnot a body. A body is given just for therecognition. A soul merely changes fromone body to another according to onesactions or KARMA. Just as a manchanges from one set of clothes to an-other. As the Lord says in Gita," A soulcannot be slain with a weapon, burnt byfire or destroyed. It is eternal." A soul hasno colour, sex, or race. A soul merely goesthrough the process of birth and death8,400,000 times. This wheels of birth anddeath will go on spinning until the soultakes the shelter of the lotus feet of LordKrishna. One can become free from thesechains of birth and death by Bhakti Yoga. Our main aim in life is to go back to ourfather Krishna. We are all part and parcelof Him.
By being born as a human we aregiven a chance to go back where webelong. A place where one does not sufferfrom old age, disease, and death - wherethere is blissful permanent happiness. But of all species of life a human form isthe best of all. As a human we have aconscious which other species are lack-ing. A conscious to know the difference
between right and wrong. We are givenspeech to sing lords glories, eyes to seehis beauty and hands to perform gooddeeds.
Krishna is seated in everyones heartawaiting for the soul to take his shelter. Heis kind enough to provide the soul with all
our daily needs. He sees no differencewhether a person prays to him or not. Hedoes not think, "Let me provide more forthis soul, because he prays to me". No,he gives everyone equally. All are lovedby him. If he can do so much for all, imagine, what he can do for those whohave taken his shelter.
One does not need to do much inorder to take his shelter. One simply hasto surrender to him. As the Lord says inthe Gita:
Sarva Dharma ParityajyaMam Ekam Sarnam Vraja
Lord says leave everything and justsurrender onto only me. Then he goes onsaying:
Aham Tvam PabebhyamMokshyami ......
I will free you from all sins, actions andI will give youmoksha. We keep on sayingthat we havent got time to surrender. Wehave our daily duties to preform. We have
many tasks to do. We have children tobring up, run the household, follow careerto make money, to buy luxuries of life. Letus get retired and free from all this and thenwe will go to Krishna. The truth is, we willnever be free from ourKarma. If we wouldnot find time now, we never will. We will goon wasting our lives. And when we dorealise, it will be too late. Our beautifulbodies will be taken over by old age. Howare we going to do devotional servicewhen we are suffering from old age anddiseases? As age goes on, we start to loseour eyesight, lose our hearing and gener-ally become less energetic. How will we beable to see his beauty, chant his glories,
listen to hisleelasor do charity work then?Although devotional service can be startedat any time, it is best to start at a very youngage. At young age we are more clean atheart, more innocent, free from maya.Bhakta Prahlaad andDhruv started theirdevotion at a very young age and surren-dered themselves to Lord only andachieved God's grace

father, or even as a friend like Arjun.Kamsas greatest enemy was krishna. Hewanted him dead at all cost. Yet he waslucky enough to be killed by the lord andreceive his mukti. The question is why didKamsa get liberated when he was so evil. The answer is Kamsa had already estab-
lished a relationship with Govind. It maynot have been in a positive way or be-cause he accepted Govind as a god. Inthe eyes of Kamsa Govind was just aGopal the cowherd. He adapted a rela-tionship with the lord in a negative way bybecoming his enemy. Therefore he wasconstantly talking, thinking about the lordat all times. He was seeing the lord everywhere, thus enabling him to associatewith Krisna. So in a way Krshna waspresent within Kamsa. We can not eventhink of Govind for a few hours, let aloneall times. Ajaamil was another soul whichwent the wrong path. He committed manybad deeds yet when he was dying he saw
the messengers of the lord coming to takehim to heaven in chariots. The reasonwas a simple one. He had named hisbeloved son Narayan. When he realisedhis time was coming to an end, he gotscared and started to call for his sonNarayan. The last word which came out ofhis mouth before death was the holy nameof Shree Hari or Krshna. Although he wascalling for his son and not lord Hari suchwas the power in the holy name that hegot liberated. The lords name cleansedthe lifetime sins of Ajaamil, giving him achance to get mukti. Govind is all merci-ful. (Continued-"Krishnapremi")
Krishna is kind and he will take us onat any time. Once we surrender to him hewill worry about us. He will protect andhelp us towards bhakti yoga. It is better toturn to Krisna late then never.
Bhakti yoga starts when we startchanting his holy name. There is no dif-ference between the Lord and his name.It is one. If we start to say his name ourlove for the lord becomes more stronger.Even if a soul chants his name acciden-tally or in vain it can still perform miracles!
The result will be good. A soul can estab-lish a relationship with the Lord in manyways. We can look upon Krshna as ourlord, master, lover, husband, supreme,

In this horoscope of a youngmarried man the 9th house(Bhagyasthan-Good luck) has fourplanets, Saturn, Moon, Venus andKetu, giving rise to "Vish-Yoga"(Saturn and Moon) and "GrahanYoga" (Moon and Ketu).

This is the horoscope of a

Mars is in the 4th house andexerts 7th house aspect on theMoon. Third house has Jupiterand Saturn. The Sun, Mercuryand Venus are in the 5th house.Saturn exerts 3rd house aspect

The result is an extremelytimid, submissive but very senti-mental personality, with flashesof extreme stubbornness at times, feels insecure and needs con-stant reassurances; is confusedand terribly lonely; tends to bedepressed.
She is extremely attached to

Thus, it is very obvious thatAstrology plays an important rolein the recognition of depressivetendencies by studying the plan-etary positions at birth. It can also

Thank you once again for theJyotish reading you kindly gave me. Ifound it extremely useful and informa-tive-it has given me a broader per-spective in the general procedure foranything a chart and a greater com-prehensions of its workings.
Also, as promised, I would like topass on my thoughts in regards to yourbook "A Beginner Course in HinduAstrology".
I found your book extremely useful- it is well laid out in a simple and clearfashion and is perfect for a beginnerwith little or no prior knowledge of thesubject. It sheds light on the basicprinciples of chart reading in an easyto understand format and allowed oneto build up a solid foundation of proc-ess involved. Also having very littleidea of the difference between West-ern and Vedic Astrology I found theexplanation related to this veryilluminatary.
Overall, a very necessary and use-ful book for an aspiring astrologer. Many thanks! Danny Cavanagh (Kent)
