Professor, Mathematics DECENNIAL CELEBRATIONS 2010-11 Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences has celebrated its 10 th Year inception on 6 th February, 2011 with glitz and grandeur. The Historical occasion was graced by eminent personalities like Dr. D. Purandeswari, Hon’ble Minister of State, HRD, Govt. of India, as Chief Guest, Shri. M. Venakayya Naidu, former Union Minister, Current Chairman, Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Prof. B. Satyanarayana, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Andhra University and Shri Y. Lakshmi Prasad, recipient of Padma Sri Award as Guests of Honour. The event was presided over by Dr. Neerukonda B.R. Prasad, Chairman, ANITS, a Philanthropist NRI. The staff members who have been serving the institution since its inception were presented with tokens of appreciation on this occasion. Mr. N. Indra Kiran, Sr. Asst Professor Mechanical Engg, and Mr. M. James Stephen, Assoc. Prof., Dept. of IT received the “Best Teacher “awards for the academic year 2009-10. Gold Medals (22cts 10gms) to the toppers of all the branches of the 2006-10 batch and Merit awards/Cash Prizes to the toppers of the year end examinations were given away by the Chief Guest and other Guests of Honour. Shri. V. DECENNIAL CELEBRATIONS 2010-11

Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences

has celebrated its 10th Year inception on 6th February, 2011

with glitz and grandeur. The Historical occasion was graced

by eminent personalities like Dr. D. Purandeswari, Hon’ble

Minister of State, HRD, Govt. of India, as Chief Guest, Shri.

M. Venakayya Naidu, former Union Minister, Current

Chairman, Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Prof. B.

Satyanarayana, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Andhra University

and Shri Y. Lakshmi Prasad, recipient of Padma Sri Award

as Guests of Honour.

The event was presided over by Dr. Neerukonda B.R.

Prasad, Chairman, ANITS, a Philanthropist NRI. The

Decennial celebrations stood as a witness to showcase some

of the great heights which were scaled by the institute in a

very short span of time. The evening was formally inaugurated

by lighting the lamp by Dr. D. Purandeswari. The event marked

ARC – ‘10

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering,organized a two-day national level student technical symposiumARC-‘10, for the fourth consecutive year during 27th - 28th

December 2010. Sri B. Ramesh Prasad, Chief GeneralManager, APEPDCL has inaugurated the symposium on 27th

December 2010 at 10.30 AM. And Sri B. Srinivasa Reddy,AGM (Electrical), RINL is the guest of honor. Around 200 studentsfrom various engineering colleges participated in the symposium.During the symposium several events like Technical Quiz, TroubleShooting, Model Presentation, Ensemble, Rover Race,Documentary and Treasure hunt were also conducted along withPaper Presentation. Prof. V. S. R. K. Prasad, Principal, ANITSpresided over the function. Prof. R. Govardhana Rao, Director,and Prof. G. Raja Rao, HOD, EEE addressed the gathering. Prof.G.V.K.R. Sastry, HOD, EEE, AU, Prof. V. Bapiraju Dept. of EEE,AU, Prof. K. Rama Sudha, HOD, EEE, AU Women’s Collegechaired the sessions on paper presentation.

“IGNITION-2k11”

IGNITION’11 a National Level Technical Symposium

was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engg, ANITS

during 24th - 25th Feb, 2011. The event was inaugurated by the

chief guest, Sri G.V.L.Satya Kumar, Deputy Chairman,

Visakhapatnam Port Trust. Prof.K. Ramji, Andhra University

college of Engg the Guest of Honour lighted the lamp and gave

keynote Lecture on Nano Technology. Prof. V.S.R.K. Prasad,

Principal, ANITS presided over the function. Prof. T.V.

Hanumantha Rao, HOD, and the convener of the symposium

informed that over 120 papers out of 650 were accepted. Four

sessions were organized on different topics of Mechanical Engg.

More than 700 students from various Engineering

colleges participated in the event. Apart from paper presentations,

other events like poster presentations, technical quiz, Robotics-

robo sweep, robo race, robo-war, documentaries, model

presentations, contraptions and spot events were held. The best

two papers from each session were given a cash prize of Rs.

2000/- and Rs.1000/- respectively. Prof. Pramila Devi,

Mechanical dept., AUEC was the chief guest for the valedictory

function.

Young ANITIANS from the Department of InformationTechnology won the overall championship and stood amongthe top 30 in “NIIT - Java Master Contest” organized byNIIT, Visakhapatnam on 8th Feb, 2011. The ANITS familycongratulates them on their grand achievement and wishesthem more success in their future endeavours.

BLAZE ACTIVITYUnder the banner of “BLAZE” all the Biotechnology students paid special attention in visiting to orphanage on a special occasion i.e.

on Feb 3rd with distribution of clothes, sweets and arranging for dinner.

MICROSOFT QUIZ

The Microsoft Technology Quiz was conducted on 23rd

December 2010 by ANITS IEEE Student Branch, ECE Dept. Itwas organized by Ms.K. Rani Poojitha Devi and Ms.M.Priyankaof III/IV ECE under the aegis of Prof. Prasad Gandikota, HOD,ECE Dept. and it was volunteered by Ms.K. Jyotsna Devi, Ms.A.Alekhya, Mr.M. Sreekanth and Mr.J. Sreekanth.Nearly 129students from departments of ECE, CSE, IT, Mechanical andMCA participated in the written quiz.Dr.Prasad Gandikota, HOD,ECE opened the sealed question papers in front of the studentsand started the quiz. Ms.Ch. Uma and Mr.Kumar Naik invigilatedthe proceedings of the quiz.

The Campus Recruitment Process of 2011 witnessedyoung ANITIANS selected by top players of Indian industries. Atotal of 14 firms have so far tested our students. Infosys visitedin the first slot and selected 126 students in November 2010initiating another successful campus placement season followedby Persistent Technologies, L&T, Medha Servo Drives, Efftronics,Syntel Inc, HCL Infosystem, Schwing Stetter (India) Pvt Ltd. Theaverage salary recorded in the campus this year is 3.08 Lacs perannum. A few more companies like Mphasis, United HealthGroup, Mahindra Satyam, SASKEN and Polaris are under thepipeline in the next few months. Indian Navy final interviews areunder progress and results are awaited.

ANITS-Warriors club of III/IV ECE won the overallchampionship trophy of the most coveted and publicized ‘TheHindu Eplus club Challenge-2011’ and a cash prize of Rs.10,000/- on Sunday, 23rd Januray 2011 held at Raghu EngineeringCollege, Dakamari, Visakhapatnam. Union Minister of State forHRD, Dr. D.Purandeswari, who was the chief guest of the event,gave away the prizes to the winners. ANITS emerged as winnerin a day-long competition where more than 20 engineering anddegree colleges from the three coastal districts took part in. TheANITIANS excelled in all the competitions. Ms. K. Poojitha RaniDevi- First Prize Elocution, Ms. M.K Priyadarshini- Second PrizeElocution, Ms. K. Latha- First Prize Group Discussion, Ms. B.Sravya- Third Prize Group Discussion. The Members of the Quizteam won Second prize, Collage team won the Second Prizeand consolation prize was bagged for Skit.

The Department of English and Humanities initiated thefirst Hindu Eplus club- ‘The Samurais’ in 2009 and two moreclubs-Warriors and Challengers were added in 2010. Since then,the department has guided, trained, groomed and mentored the

Bioflare’10 a National Level Technical Symposium wasorganized by the Department of Biotechnology, ANITS during28th & 29th Dec, 2010. Chief guests, Dr. Parveen Kumar, VicePresident of Krebs Biochemicals & Industries Ltd. andGuest of Honour Prof. T. Ramana, Head, Dept. ofBiotechnology have inaugurated the symposium. Dr. Santosh K.Mishra, President, KeverPharma Pvt Ltd has givena keynote Lecture on DrugDiscovery. Prof. V.S.R.K.Prasad, Principal, ANITSpresided over the function.Prof. G.H. Rao was theconvener and Dr. V.Sridevi was the OrganizingSecretary and informed that over 120 papers were accepted andseven sessions were organized on different topics ofBiotechnology.

More than 150 students from various Engineering collegeshave participated in the event. Along with papers, posterpresentations and other events like technical quiz, treasure hunt,spot events etc were also conducted. The best two papers fromeach session was given a cash prize of Rs. 1200/- and Rs.800/-.Prof. R. Sinha, Head, Dept. of Biotechnology was the chief

Pre-final year students of Dept. of CSE went for anIndustrial Tour from 7th- 16th January 2011. TWO DAY WORKSHOP

on Southern Hybridization

A two day workshop on “Southern Hybridization and its

applications” was conducted by BLAZE, Department of

Biotechnology, ANITS in collaboration with Helini Biomolecules,

Chennai during 3rd-4rth Dec 10. Practical session on Southern

Hybridization and two guest lectures on DNA finger printing,

spot painting on “Gene Silencing” and Technical dumbsharads

were arranged in the two day programme. A total of 70 students

from III/IV and IV/IV Biotechnology were participated in the

programme and certificates were distributed.

The Department of ECE conducted a National LevelStudent Technical Symposium (INTERACT-2K11) under the aegisof ACES (ANITS COMMUNICATION ENGINEERS SOCIETY)during 19th - 20th Feb 2011.It was inaugurated by the Chief GuestShri P.Sridhar, Chairman & CEO, Xinthe Technoligies,Visakhapatnam.

Dr.Prasad Gandikota, Convener, INTERACT-2K11informed that out of 300 papers received only 85 good paperswere selected. The participation was from more than 50 collegesacross the country. The presentation of papers was divided into09 sessions.

On this occasion a Hardware Project Exhibition coveringareas of neural networks,Embedded systems, Communicationand EMI/EMC, Speech and image processing and other areas,Biometrics and pattern recognition, Nano technology and VLSIdesignNetwork security was conducted by Final Year ECEStudents. CSI REGIONAL STUDENT CONVENTION-2010

1st AP STATE CSI Regional Student Convention-2010 was

hosted by Departments of CSE, IT, & MCA with the theme

“Techno progressivism for Renaissance of IT in India” held at

ANITS campus on 10th and 11th December, 2010. It was

organized in association with CSI Visakhapatnam Chapter . On

this occasion, events like Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation,

Project demo under the domains Soft Computing, Data Mining,

Swarm Intelligence, Grid Computing were organized. About 1500

students from 57 colleges participated in the event. This event

gave an opportunity for the students to interact with other students

from all over the State and share ideas and gain technological

awareness.
