Señor Jesucristo,

tú nos has enseñado a ser misericordiosos como el Padre del cielo,

y nos has dicho que quien te ve, lo ve también a Él. Muéstranos tu rostro y obtendremos la salvación.

Tu mirada llena de amor liberó a Zaqueo y a Mateo de la esclavitud del dinero;

a la adúltera y a la Magdalena del buscar la felicidad solamente en una creatura;

hizo llorar a Pedro luego de la traición, y aseguró el Paraíso al ladrón arrepentido.

Haz que cada uno de nosotros escuche como propia la palabra que dijiste a la samaritana: ¡Si conocieras el don de Dios!

Tú eres el rostro visible del Padre invisible,

del Dios que manifiesta su omnipotencia sobre todo con el perdón y la misericordia:

haz que, en el mundo, la Iglesia sea el rostro visible de Ti, su Señor, resucitado y glorioso.

Tú has querido que también tus ministros fueran revestidos de debilidad

para que sientan sincera compasión por los que se encuentran en la ignorancia o en el error:

haz que quien se acerque a uno de ellos se sienta esperado, amado y perdonado por Dios.

Manda tu Espíritu y conságranos a todos con su

unción para que el Jubileo de la Misericordia sea un año de

gracia del Señor y tu Iglesia pueda, con renovado entusiasmo, llevar la

Buena Nueva a los pobres proclamar la libertad a los prisioneros y oprimidos

y restituir la vista a los ciegos. Te lo pedimos por intercesión de María, Madre de la

Misericordia, a ti que vives y reinas con el Padre y el Espíritu Santo

por los siglos de los siglos.

Lord Jesus Christ,

you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father,

and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show us your face and we will be saved.

Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money;

the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things;

made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief.

Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman:

“If you knew the gift of God!”

You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by

forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be your visible face in the world, its

Lord risen and glorified. You willed that your ministers would also be clothed

in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in

ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after,

loved, and forgiven by God.

Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with His anointing,

so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord,

and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor,

proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind.

We ask this of you, Lord Jesus, through the

intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy; you who live and reign with the Father and

the Holy Spirit for ever and ever

DE NOTRE VICAIRE “Dieu a voulu naître dans une famille””

En contemplant la crèche, nous tournons les yeux vers la famille que Dieu a choisie et nous nous rap-pelons une phrase célèbre de saint Bernard: “Ton Créateur s'est confié à Marie et à Joseph, sera-t-il in-digne de toi de suivre son exemple?”Dieu a choisi un jeune ouvrier spécialisé et sa fiancée. À voir leur fidélité à la Loi, il n'y a aucun doute qu'ils avaient préparé attentivement la venue du Messie. Le texte nous fait en plus réaliser qu'ils étaient choisis parmi les pauvres, comme l'indique cette prescription de la Loi: “Si ses moyens ne lui permettent pas d'offrir un agneau, elle (la mère) prendra deux tourterelles ou deux jeunes colombesL'expérience de Marie et de Joseph fut sans doute unique. Mais comme nous, ils ne comprenaient pas tout. L'Évangile le répète à plusieurs reprises. À travers les événements imprévisibles qui se présentaient comme la naissance de leur Enfant dans la pauvreté, la fuite en Égypte, le séjour en exil, leur seule force était la confiance en la bonté et en la fidélité de Dieu. C'est lui qui les avait appelés à le suivre en faisant alliance avec eux. En cela, Marie et Joseph nous ressemblent, puisque Dieu nous a aussi appelés à l'accueillir. Et la vie ne nous ménage pas non plus. Nous n'avons pas tous à fuir en Égypte mais le manque de santé, d'appui, de force, de moyens, nous font souvent traverser des moments difficiles. Il nous arrive aussi d'être secoués par les événements. Ceux qui rêvaient d'une famille unie voient parfois leurs enfants les quitter et suivre d'autres chemins. Des mariages se brisent autour de nous. Les décisions que nous avons à prendre sont parfois déchirantes et laissent souvent de profondes blessures. Ainsi s'effondrent plusieurs de nos plus beaux projets. C'est alors que notre réflexion sur la con-dition des parents de Jésus et sur le mystère de la crèche devient féconde. La naissance du Fils de Dieu dans une étable est surprenante, inattendue. Il ne vient ni de la manière ni au moment prévus. Notre médi-tation, en cette saison de Noël, nous éclaire sur bien des choses.

Feast of the Holy Family

Faith is one of the greatest gifts you can give a family. Since parents have given children their life, they are bound by the most serious obligation to educate their offspring and therefore must be the primary and principal educators of the family.

The Second Vatican Council dedicated much attention to the family. Married part-ners, it said, must be witnesses of faith to each other and to their children (cf.Lumen Gentium, n. 35).

Let us fix our gaze on Jesus, Mary and Jo-seph and adore the mystery of a God who chose to be born of a woman, the Blessed Virgin, and to enter this world in the way common to all humankind. By so do-ing, He sanctified the reality of the family, filling it with divine grace and fully revealing its vocation and mis-sion. Today would be a great opportunity for you to do something special with your family. How much time does your family spend together? Do you pray to-gether? What can you do differently today to become a more holy family?

La fe es uno de los regalos mas grande que pueda tener una familia. Ya que los padres le han dado vida a sus hijos, están atados a la obligación mas

grande de educar a sus hijos y deben ser el recurso primario y principal de educación para la familia. El Concilio Vaticano Segundo dedi-co mucha atención a la familia. Dijo que, las parejas casadas, deben ser testigos de la fe entre sí y sus hijos. (cf. Lumen Gentium, n. 35).

Debemos fijar nuestra mirada en Jesús, María y José, y adorar el misterio de Dios que eligió el nacer de una mujer, la Santísima Virgen, y

decidió entrar en este mundo de la manera más común a la humanidad. De esta manera, santificó a la familia, llenándola con la gracia divina revelando así su vocación y misión como familia. Hoy seria un tiempo oportuno para hacer algo especial con tu familia. ¿Cuánto tiempo dedican juntos como fami-lia? ¿Orán juntos? ¿Qué puedes hacer diferente hoy para llegar a ser una familia más santa?

During this season of giving, let us remember the most important gift we have received – being children of God. As God’s children, it’s important that we express our love for others as well. Tell your spouse, children and other family members and friends frequently that love them.

It is a 10 weeks course, two hours a week, with the vision to see the followers of Christ in every nation faithfully living by God’s financial principles in every area of their lives.
