Shortage of manual deburring skills Deburring Services Ltd responds.

Set up in 1978 to introduce repeatability and controllability through the application of deburring processes such as Abrasive Flow and ECD Deburring Services has risen to a new challenge set by the major players in the European aerospace sector. Many of the highly skilled and experienced manual deburring operatives are approaching retirement age and with an acute lack of younger replacements within the aerospace OEM'S and supply chain , the situation is becoming more problematic. Recognising this state of affairs Deburring Services have been approached by it's customer base to help fix the problem. The company responeded by ensuring that it's manual deburring section through training and the use of detail work instructions could rise to this challenge. For those applications (particularly prismatic parts) where the companies ABRASIVE FLOW and ECD processes are not permitted, Deburring Services Ltd has been approved for the manual deburring operation by many of the major aerospace OEM'S and the supply chain

VIBRATORY DEBURRING Our vibratory deburring section provides us with the capability to externally deburr a wide range of components in a variety of materials to a consistent quality standard at very competitive prices. Small, low volume parts are externally deburred to the most exacting of Aerospace standards in our centrifugal deburring machine.

ABRASIVE FLOW DEBURRING (AFM)

AFM was the first deburring process offered by the company when it began trading in 1978.

ELECTROCHEMICAL DEBURRING (ECD)

Multiple tooling and low cycle times (sometimes 15 seconds) ensure a consistent and cost-effective

deburring solution. Process flexibility allows us to deburr small fuel injection components with holes no

more than 0.25mm diameter. ECD satisfies the demands associated with the high production, zero

reject rate, low cost components sector.

WET/DRY BLASTING

The aqua blasting process is ideal for removing heat treatment scale or rust from components and

involves placing parts inside a sealed cabinet and then blasting with a solution of water and

abrasive. Upon completion of the cycle, the process ensures that the processed component has a

rust free even textured finish.

PRECISION HAND DEBURRING

Our precision hand deburring section was subsequently expanded. Working in partnership with

OEMs we developed intensive operator training programmes and together with the compilation of

sealed work instructions the company has been able to satisfy the requirements of the most

demanding industries. Our highly skilled operators regularly work under 20x and 40x magnification.
