2012 Deborah Kirwan Award winner Steve Mills, Radio 6PRSteve Mills won the 2012 Deborah Kirwan Award for his interview with English teacher Dilys Bossley. Dilys, who was in her late 60’s at the time of the interview, has taught at Bullsbrook District High School since 1997. Mills portrayed her as a role model for both students and seniors and displayed admiration for Dilys and her ability to continue to teach 150 students a year with enthusiasm. When asked by Mills if she had any advice for teachers, Dilys replied, “I would say enjoy, just enjoy your students”. How long would she remain teaching, he asked? “Well I think I’ll keep going until I get old…I don’t know when I’m going to get old”.
