Materials

Scarf

• 2(3:4) 50g balls of Debbie Bliss cashmerino aran in Bark 65 (M) and one 50g ball in Coral 73 (C).

• Pair of 5mm (US 8) knitting needles.

Hat

• 1(1:2) 50g balls of Debbie Bliss cashmerino aran in Coral 73 (M) and one 50g ball in Bark 65 (C).

• Pair of 5mm (US 8) knitting needles.

Tension

18 sts and 24 rows over st st and 20 sts and 24 rows over rib when slightly extended, both to 10cm/4in square using 5mm (US 8) needles.

SCARFWith 5mm (US 8) needles and C, cast on 11(13:15) sts.1st row (right side) K to end.2nd row P to end.3rd and 4th rows As 1st and 2nd rows.5th (inc) row K1, [m1, k1] to end. 21(25:29) sts.6th row P1, [k1, p1] to end.7th row K1, [p1, k1] to end.8th row P1, [k1, p1] to end.Rep the last 2 rows once more.11th (inc) row K1, [m1, p1, k1] to end. 31(37:43) sts.12th row P1, [k2, p1] to end.13th row K1, [p2, k1] to end.14th row P1, [k2, p1] to end.Rep the last 2 rows once more.17th (inc) row K1, m1, [p2, m1, k1] to end.42(50:58) sts.18th row P2, [k2, p2] to end.Change to M.Cont in rib as set until scarf measures 65(75:90)cm/25 1/2(29 1/2:35 1/2)in from cast on edge, ending with a wrong side row.Change to C.1st row Rib to end.2nd row Rib to end.3rd (dec) row K2tog, [p2, k2tog] to end.31(37:43) sts.4th row P1, [k2, p1] to end.

To Make UpWith C, make two 5cm/2in diameter pompons and attach one to each end of the scarf.

HATWith 5mm (US 8) needles and C, cast on 86(94:102) sts.1st rib row (right side) K2, [p2, k2] to end.2nd rib row P2, [k2, p2] to end.These 2 rows form the rib patt and are repeated.Rib a further 10(12:14) rows.Change to M.Cont in rib until hat measures 18(20:22)cm/7(8:8 3/4)infrom cast on edge, ending with 2nd rib row.Shape top1st row (right side) K2, [p2tog, k2] to end.65(71:77) sts.2nd row P2, [k1, p2] to end.3rd row K2, [p1, k2] to end.4th row P2, [k1, p2] to end.5th row K2tog, [p1, k2tog] to end. 43(47:51) sts.6th row P1, [k1, p1] to end.7th row K1, [p3tog, k1] to last 2 sts, p2tog.22(24:26) sts.8th row [P2tog] to end.Break off yarn, thread end through rem 11(12:13) sts,pull up and secure.

Join seam.

With C, make a 5cm/2in diameter pompon and attach to the top of hat.
