Dear Students, Parents and Friends, Welfare at Watsonia Primary School
During my time at Watsonia I’ve had the opportunity to observe some of the great practices used to support your child/ren in all areas. In particular the School Values and the ‘High 5’ approach are wonderful methods to ensure students develop the necessary skills to
become model citizens. The ‘High 5’ is a wonderful strategy to empower our students to be assertive and proactive when dealing with bullies rather than just relying on adults. As outlined below the approach is called High Five.
What is Hi 5?
• It is an effective strategy to develop problem–solving strategies for our students.
• A whole school approach that can also eradicate bullying.
• It is a 5 step problem solving strategy that can be used in the classroom, in the playground and for perceived bullying incidents.
Values and Hi 5
• Values - used to foster better relationships, personal achievement and improved student well being.
• Hi 5- used to build student’s social skills and resilience.
• Together develop positive impact and shape the School’s Code of Cooperation. See attached flyer for further more detailed information.
Walkathon
Students are asked to rally their family and friends to sponsor them for the Walkathon next Friday 22nd September beginning at
10.15am, the last day of school. A reminder to students to wear your house colours on the day to support your house. Money ra ised
will go towards purchasing sports tops for us all to wear. As a bonus all forms and donations handed back by Wednesday 20th
September goes into a draw- 2 lucky students will win a Watermarc pass.
Thank You
I have almost finished my time at Watsonia PS and I must say I have enjoyed my stay. Everyone has been very
welcoming and helpful from the students, staff to Ms Fenech in the office. Enjoy the remainder of the term and
the holiday break. Best Wishes to you all.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the Art Show tonight between 5.30 and 7.00 pm. Ms Chloe
Britton has been working hard to put this show together so your support and attendance would be appreciated
and welcomed.
Kind Regards,
Suzanne Kot
