Dear Students, Parents and Friends, Welfare at Watsonia Primary School During my time at Watsonia I’ve had the opportunity to observe some of the great practices used to support your child/ren in all areas. In particular the School Values and the ‘High 5’ approach are wonderful methods to ensure students develop the necessary skills to become model citizens. The ‘High 5’ is a wonderful strategy to empower our students to be assertive and proactive when dealing with bullies rather than just relying on adults. As outlined below the approach is called High Five. What is Hi 5? It is an effective strategy to develop problem–solving strategies for our students. A whole school approach that can also eradicate bullying. It is a 5 step problem solving strategy that can be used in the classroom, in the playground and for perceived bullying incidents. Values and Hi 5 Values - used to foster better relationships, personal achievement and improved student well being. Hi 5- used to build student’s social skills and resilience. Dear Students, Parents and Friends, Welfare at Watsonia Primary School

During my time at Watsonia I’ve had the opportunity to observe some of the great practices used to support your child/ren in all areas. In particular the School Values and the ‘High 5’ approach are wonderful methods to ensure students develop the necessary skills to

become model citizens. The ‘High 5’ is a wonderful strategy to empower our students to be assertive and proactive when dealing with bullies rather than just relying on adults. As outlined below the approach is called High Five.

What is Hi 5?

• It is an effective strategy to develop problem–solving strategies for our students.

• A whole school approach that can also eradicate bullying.

• It is a 5 step problem solving strategy that can be used in the classroom, in the playground and for perceived bullying incidents.

Values and Hi 5

• Values - used to foster better relationships, personal achievement and improved student well being.

• Hi 5- used to build student’s social skills and resilience.

• Together develop positive impact and shape the School’s Code of Cooperation. See attached flyer for further more detailed information.
