Dear FrienDs,

We would like to invite you to join with us for our third annual Hope Gala Honolulu. Everyone

has a personal connection to cancer, whether it is directly or indirectly. The purpose of the Hope

Gala Honolulu is to raise needed funds to support the American Cancer Society’s quest for a cure,

and to provide vital programs for cancer patients throughout the state of Hawai`i and in Guam.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from Hope Gala Honolulu fund the Society’s mission and help

the people of Hawai`i to stay well, get well, find cures and fight back...while supporting the Soci-

ety’s ongoing mission to eliminate cancer through research, education, and patient services.

We invite you to partner with us in the fight against cancer by sponsoring this gala fund-raising

event. The key to the Hope Gala Honolulu’s success is the support of Hawai`i’s business leaders and

generous community donors like you.

Information about the event as well as the programs it will support is enclosed along with spon-

sorship opportunities for your consideration. We hope, with your help, we can fight to eliminate

cancer, and create a world with many more birthdays. Through your contribution, you will be rec-

ognized in the community as someone who is passionate about finishing the fight. We appreciate

your support, and thank you for your consideration and immense generosity.

Mahalo Nui Loa,

~ Gregg Fraser & Maria Tucker, Hope Gala Honolulu Event Co-Chairs for 2015

Hope Gala Honolulu – MiDniGHt in MiaMi

Hope Gala Honolulu will again transport guests to

another time and place. We will visit historic Miami for

an evening of great food, celebration and dancing. While

we maintain the posh surroundings and high quality en-

tertainment that Hope Gala Honolulu is now known for,

we will also be adding more fun and celebration to our

event. Our Miami theme allows us to explore rich cul-

tural and culinary traditions and mix up the event format

un poquito (a little). This year we will offer cabanas and

general admission seating in addition to our traditional

table settings. Get out and get some salsa lessons. We

will have quite a line-up of talents to help you to show

off your moves.

Join us as we celebrate and reflect on how far we’ve

come in the fight against cancer. You are invited to the

celebration at this year’s Hope Gala, to help us ensure

that the 21st century becomes cancer’s last century.

We will make Midnight in Miami an evening for you to

remember.

savinG lives in Hawai`i • Our trained Cancer Information Specialists offered information,

answers and support through our 24/7 toll-free information line to more than 1,063 callers in Hawai`i.

• Our network of volunteer drivers provided 196 cancer patients more than 2,956 rides to cancer-related treatments and ap-pointments through our Road To Recovery® program. Addi-tionally, we offered 449 patients vendor transportation assis-tance when no volunteers where available in a community or the distance was too great, such as traveling to another island.

• Eliminating barriers to cancer care, our patient navigators of-fered free guidance and support to 1,218 patients navigating the health care system through the American Cancer Society Patient Navigator Program.

• We provided lodging to more than 99 cancer patients and their caregivers while they traveled away from home for treat-ment. These guests received 838 nights through the Ameri-can Cancer Society Hope Lodge® network and Guest Room program when they had to travel away from home for cancer treatment.

• 195 local women diagnosed with cancer participated in the Look Good Feel Better® program. Each woman received a free beauty kit and the tools to help improve her self-image as she managed the side effects of cancer treatments.

• 1,295 local patients received a free Personal Health Manager Kit to guide them through their cancer journey. This tool helps patients organize and keep track of appointments, medications, test results, insurance, and bills, along with practical cancer-related information.

• 94 newly diagnosed breast cancer patients received one-on-one support from a trained survivor through the American Cancer Society Reach To Recovery® program.

• ACS Cancer Action Network (CAN) staff and volunteers success-fully lead the effort to protect the Hawai`i tobacco trust fund, which continues to allow funding for anti-tobacco programs. Additionally, ACS CAN continued to advocate for funding for a breast cancer screening program that would provide low-income women with access to lifesaving cancer screenings.

Saving Lives in Guam • 420 cancer patients received free information and resources

through ACS• 114 patients received approximately 779 free personal gift items to help offer comfort and guidance

through each patient’s cancer journey. These items often included: hat, turbans, books, and magazines. • We provided lodging to more than 40 cancer patients and their caregiver while they traveled away from

home for treatment. These guests received 761 nights through our discounted lodging, allowing them to focus on recovery instead of the financial burden associated with travel.
