Dear Potential Sponsor: We hope that you will join us as a sponsor for a very special and important event: the 5 th Annual Defeat DIPG Superhero Sprint & 6K. On Sunday, May 24, 2020, Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that raises funds for childhood brain tumor research, will host this event in the area surrounding Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, Maryland. All proceeds from the race will fund research into the deadliest form of childhood cancer: diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). The Superhero Sprint & 6K has been a tremendous success for the past 4 years, with considerable growth that we expect to continue. In 2019, the event drew over 2,400 participants and raised over $245,000. We again expect very high turnout in 2020. We are delighted to have Headfirst Summer Camps back for the fifth year as our Presenting Sponsor, with a broad network of families in the D.C. metro region that they will engage for the race. We also thank our Community Partner, Westfield Montgomery, for supporting this special event. Brain cancer is now the leading cause of childhood cancer death. Approximately 200-400 children in the United States are diagnosed with DIPG each year, typically between the ages of 4-11 years old. DIPG is the leading cause of death from pediatric brain tumors with near 0% survival. Defeat DIPG Foundation is named for Michael Mosier, a 6- year-old boy from Bethesda who battled DIPG for 8.5 months before passing away in May 2015. Michael was a kindergartener at Seven Locks Elementary School. Though survival rates for most cancers have improved drastically in the past few decades, DIPG has the same dismal prognosis. Fortunately, researchers are finally hopeful that due to better technology and access to tumor tissue, they are on their way to finding a cure for this deadly brain cancer. Defeat DIPG Foundation is a leader in the fight for a cure for DIPG, raising over $6 million since its creation at the end of 2015. By supporting this race, you can be a part of the team fighting for a cure for children facing DIPG. The enclosed materials provide additional information about this event and our Foundation. We look forward to working with our sponsors to help promote their involvement in the race and build relationships that we hope can persist well into the future. Please contact me directly with any questions. Thank you for your time, consideration, and support. Sincerely, Jenny R. Mosier Executive Director & Co-Founder [email protected]

and Headline News.• Awarded 1st prize in #MyGivingStory contest by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, out of over 800

participants, based in part on the ability to secure “likes” on Facebook for the submission.

PIGGYBACK ON THE POWER OF THE CAUSE • The tragic consequences of childhood cancer – and DIPG brain tumors in particular – have led to loyal and

dedicated supporters. A business supporting this cause will benefit from the good will and positiveassociation.

• DIPG has received significant public attention through coverage of youth who have battled the disease. Many parents of children with DIPG are active on social media with wide networks.
