It’s become really apparent over the past week that we’re all in different places at the moment - some of us are rushing back amongst it, while others are still playing it safe from our homes. And for some of us, it varies depending on how we’re feeling that day! While we've all had our own lockdown experience, we've all played a part in caring for each other and showing aroha. It is okay to feel a range of emotions as we enter our new normal during Level 2 and beyond. If you have any serious concerns please let me know. Covid19 - At MPS we understand that the announcement around social gatherings increasing to 100 does not affect us too much, however we still are working hard to make sure that we are: 1. Minimising the risk that someone gets infected in the first place by having students wash their hands and understand good hygiene practices. 2. Ensuring we can identify and contact anyone who has been in close contact with a person, if someone in a school or early learning centre is infected by having parents or visitors sign in when they come on to the school site. 3. Acknowledging the feelings and emotions of our learners and staff. 4. Building strong learning programmes based on the academic and personal needs of our awesome MPS kids. 5. Continuing to purchase and encourage our students to use hand sanitiser until we reach Alert Level One (as you can imagine this is a massive unbudgeted expense for us but we feel it is crucial at this stage). Behaviour - Last week was an amazing week and I can’t sing the praises of our teachers, parents and kids enough. They have been outstanding at reconnecting with each other and our environment. I have been very proud of the exemplary behaviour and positive attitudes. We urge our school community to support local and do the same. We have an amazing community we need to support. This week in Review

Persistence pays off for Patrick!Patrick is very good at drawing sports cars likeLamborghinis, Ferrariis, and McLarens. He started sketching cars last year and learnt his skill from ‘You Tube’. The first time he tried drawing a car it looked nothing like the one on You-Tube, however he kept tryingand trying, climbing out of the Learning Pit, andbecoming very good. Well done Patrick!

ROOM 2 - Diversity Artwork Room 2 have created some beautiful artwork which is displayed on their ‘Diversity Study’ wall. The ideas for the students 'Diversity’ drawings came from a Canadian artist called Sandra who produces very creative and diverse pieces of art. Sandra sees the world in a different way and uses that in her art. The children in Room 2 used analogous colours to create their pictures which are colours that sit next to each other on the colour wheel. The students used a mixture of chalk and oil pastels after PVA glue to create the outlines. These drawings fit with “Diversity” learning, highlighting that, although we are all different, we have similarities.Check outthese inRoom 2.

Mr Baukema’s Green TeamA very big thank you to all the students whohelp Mr Baukema on a regular basis keeping our schoollooking fantastic. Pictured are some of the students whohelped with the massive leafraking job.THANK YOU!

Lockdown Windows - Many students were given the opportunity to reflect on how the lockdown impacted on their lives. They brainstormed many of the activities they did while confined to their own bubbles. Below are a selection of ‘Lockdown Windows’ created by Senior Syndicate students.
