Paper Boat DayTalking about transportation is important for children's language development and theirgeneral knowledge. Water transportation activities develop an understanding among studentsabout the importance of water in daily life. The students made paper boats in their classesand rowed it in water. They were made aware that water is a precious resource and should be used wisely.

W

Well, January was a fun-filled month learning all about transportation. First, the children had theopportunity to discover different types of transportation. We sorted different kinds of transportation intothe groups: Land, Water and Air.

Land transportation: Roads were drawn on the floor and children used scooters and toy cars to movealong. As a group activity students prepared junk models of vehicles.

Water transportation: Children folded origami boats and floated them in buckets of water. They alsoprepared different vehicles using tissue boxes which floated in water.

Air transportation: During this week children learnt about the different ways of air transport. They madehot air balloons with paper cuts as a group activity.

We spent some time exploring land, sea, and air transportation. The children sorted transportationpictures into different groups: land, sea, or air. Each child picked out a picture and sorted it according towhere it’s found.

Students were able to identify different modes of transportation and the vehicles used for each mode.Students also learnt about the uniqueness and similarity of the different vehicles.

Transportation is an important part of everyday life, and as such is a topic many preschool agedchildren are interested in. A transportation theme not only teaches children about what different vehiclesare for and how they work, but you can also use it to teach other important concepts such as safetywhen riding in a vehicle or walking.

The children were very excited to bring in their bicycles/ scooters/ cars and learn the rules of road. Thechildren dressed in costumes of captains, pilot, bus driver, cyclist, passenger and professions related todifferent means of transportation. They sat in the airplane they were very excited and shouted with joy

As the students explored land, water and air transport, the teachers explained certain rules related tothe theme and made students aware that accidents can often be avoided with proper safetyprecautions. It was a great lesson and a pleasure to see child participation.

As the topic for the month wastransportation, Sharjah Police wereinvited to speak to the children aboutRoad safety. The programme wasconducted on 28th January 2019 bySharjah Police Headquarters. Thestudents were very excited to see thepolice bike and car. The Policeman alsoshowed the students how to start thevehicle and the siren.

A parent teacher meeting helps to communicate to parents the areas their child are excelling in and to givethem specific ideas of how to improve their child's performance in school.

It is widely agreed among educators, that attending a parent teacher conference is extremelyimportant. Studies have shown that children do better in school when parents are involved in their children’sacademic lives. Attending a parent teacher meeting is a way to be involved and help your child succeed. Thisis a great opportunity to start or continue an ongoing conversation with your child’s teacher.

On Thursday 31st January 2019 an event wasorganized “Celebrate Spring”. During the weekstudents were taught about the season Spring. Inthis activity, students developed an understandingof the seasons by naming the seasons of the year, considering physical change over time, andanalysing environmental changes.

Children performed variety of songs in front ofother students without any hesitation. Just likeblossoms blooming in spring, the EYFS childrenspread their happiness amongst all of us.

Play is an important part of a child’s earlydevelopment. Playing helps young children’s brainsto develop and for their language andcommunication skills to mature.

Though ensuring your child has enough play time isa great benefit to families to allow their children torelease some extra energy, a child begins to find outwho they are through play, even during infancy.Even early in development, a child’s mind isexpanding just by looking at their environment andtaking in their surroundings.

Through play and with the use of educational toys, children learn many different skills they will need intheir life such as:

Problem solving and learning cause andeffect

Learning how to play with others throughcompromise, conflict resolution and sharing

Development of fine and gross motor skills Nurturing their creativity and imagination Discovering their independence and positive

self-esteem
