Pam called Jan and said, “I got a new bike.” Jan said, “I did, too.” “My bike is blue,” said Pam. “So is mine!” said Jan. “I will show it to you at school.” “You can see mine there, too,” sad Pam. When Pam and Jan got to school, they looked at the bikes. “Your bike is just like mine!” said Pam. “Our bikes are just the same! I’m glad,” said Jan. Pam said, “So am I.” When the girls came out of school, Pam asked Jan, “Is this my bike?” “These bikes look just the same to me,” said Jan. “I want to take my bike home,” said Pam. “I want to take my bike home, too. Let’s think what we can do,” said Jan. “My house is on this side of the school. So I came from this side. I put my bike here,” said Pam.


“My house is on that side of the school. So I came from that side. I put my bike there,” said Jan. “This blue bike is mine,” said Pam. “Then this blue bike must be mine,” said Jan. At Pam’s house her dad said, “I got something for your new bike. It is a tag with Pam on it. I will help you put it on your bike.” “Oh, thank you, Dad. I need his tag.” said Pam. Pam called Jan and said, “My dad got something for my new bike.” Jan said, “My dad got something for my new bike, too. I will show it to you at school.” “I will show you what I got, too,” said Pam. At school the girls looked at the tags on the bikes. “My tag isn't like yours.” said Jan. “Our tags are not the same,” said Pam. “I’m glad our bikes are not just the same now,” said Jan.

All About Jane Goodall Directions: Read the story below and answer the questions in complete sentences.

Jane Goodall was born in London, England in 1934. As a child, she loved animals. She was curious about animals. She spent hours watching the animals in her backyard to learn about them. Jane dreamed of traveling to the continent of Africa. She wanted to learn all about animals. When Jane was 22 years old she traveled to Kenya. There she met and was hired by Dr. Louis Leakey, an archaeologist and paleontologist. She was sent to Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania to learn about chimpanzees. Dr. Louis Leakey asked Jane to observe a group of chimpanzees to learn about their behaviors. At rst the chimpanzees were very shy, but later Jane was able to observe them closely. She learned that chimpanzees use tools, just like people! She made many other important discoveries about chimpanzees at Gombe. She wrote her first book called The Chimpanzees of Gombe: Patterns of Behavior to share what she learned. Jane wrote many books and became an animal conservationist. A conservationist is someone who works to preserve natural resources and environments. She helps to save chimpanzees around the world through research and education.
