Dear ladies and gentlemen, it has already become a tradition for our company to publish a year- ly „Green report on the Company´s impact on the environment and safety“ which is in line with our principles of open communication with the public. The year 2018 needs to be assessed on several levels. Year 2018 was the year of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of chemical plant called Dusikáreň Slovensko, which gradually developed and ranked among the largest chemical factories in Slovak republic. Last year, however, was also signicant by test run of a new ammonia production plant which has ranked us as one of Europe´s technological leaders in the chemical industry. Favourable energy intensity and minimal envi- ronmental impacts are key not only for our company but for the who- le Slovakia. The third assessment level represents economic results of the company over the past year. Even though the volume of individual commodity production has been met, the planned prot of the com- pany has not been achieved. The main reason for this was signicant increase in the price of the natural gas during the summer months and, consequently, the increase in the price of electricity. However, from the environmental and working area elements asses- sment point of view, we can rate year 2018 as successful. The following recapitulation of activities demonstrates our compa- ny´s comprehensive approach to environmental and health issues: emissions have been signicantly addressed – the construction of a new ammonia 4 plant with a high positive inuence on emissions and consumption of electricity, as well as on UGL and Urea 3 plants, to reduce emissions of solid pollutants and ammonia into the atmo- sphere, test run of 3 automated monitoring systems was launched – AMS (Ammonia 4, Urea3 – II. Stage and Energetic department), 6 AMSs are in continuous operation, in the area of water, the activities were focused on protection of groundwater during the storage, loading and pumping water pollutants in Sulfenax, Nitric acid 1 and Concentrated nitric acid plants. In cooperation with the Research Institute of Chemical Tech- nology, several options have been developed aimed at reducing wastewater pollution resulting from the production of sulfenacids in order to meet the BAT values expected in the future, in the working environment, the activities were focused on objecti- cation of the level of lighting and noise load on selected plants of the company, the company sustained its accredited activity to measure articial lighting of the plants and noise in the working environment, the company sustained the right to use the international logo „Responsible Care – responsible business in chemistry“, the supervisory audit of the integrated management system, ex- tended by the environmental risk assessment, conrmed its func- tionality and development of the integrated system in all its com- ponents and the progressive implementation of the environmental protection program by implementing measures on signicant envi- ronmental aspects. Implementing the program systematically not only meets legislative requirements, but also fulls our voluntary commitments to be a stable employer in the region. March 2019 Ing. Dear ladies and gentlemen,it has already become a tradition for our company to publish a year-ly „Green report on the Company s impact on the environment and safety“ which is in line with our principles of open communication with the public.

The year 2018 needs to be assessed on several levels. Year 2018 was the year of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of chemical plant called Dusikáreň Slovensko, which gradually developed and ranked among the largest chemical factories in Slovak republic. Last year, however, was also signifi cant by test run of a new ammonia production plant which has ranked us as one of Europe s technological leaders in the chemical industry. The third assessment level represents economic results of the company over the past year. Even though the volume of individual commodity production has been met, the planned profi t of the com-pany has not been achieved. The main reason for this was signifi cant increase in the price of the natural gas during the summer months and, consequently, the increase in the price of electricity.

However, from the environmental and working area elements asses-sment point of view, we can rate year 2018 as successful.

The following recapitulation of activities demonstrates our compa-ny s comprehensive approach to environmental and health issues: emissions have been signifi cantly addressed – the construction of

a new ammonia 4 plant with a high positive infl uence on emissions and consumption of electricity, as well as on UGL and Urea 3 plants, to reduce emissions of solid pollutants and ammonia into the atmo-sphere,

test run of 3 automated monitoring systems was launched – AMS (Ammonia 4, Urea3 – II. Stage and Energetic department), 6 AMSs are in continuous operation,

in the area of water, the activities were focused on protection of groundwater during the storage, loading and pumping water pollutants in Sulfenax, Nitric acid 1 and Concentrated nitric acid plants. In cooperation with the Research Institute of Chemical Tech-nology, several options have been developed aimed at reducing wastewater pollution resulting from the production of sulfenacids in order to meet the BAT values expected in the future,

in the working environment, the activities were focused on objecti-fi cation of the level of lighting and noise load on selected plants of the company,

the company sustained its accredited activity to measure artifi cial lighting of the plants and noise in the working environment,

the company sustained the right to use the international logo „Responsible Care – responsible business in chemistry“,

the supervisory audit of the integrated management system, ex-tended by the environmental risk assessment, confi rmed its func-tionality and development of the integrated system in all its com-ponents and the progressive implementation of the environmental protection program by implementing measures on signifi cant envi-ronmental aspects.

Implementing the program systematically not only meets legislative requirements, but also fulfi ls our voluntary commitments to be a stable employer in the region. March 2019

AIR PROTECTIONDuslo, a.s. operates 31 large and 6 medium air pollution sources in the Slovak Republic (30 of them are in the workplace Šaľa, 3 at the workpla-ce in Bratislava and 4 at the workplace in Strážske) which are operated in accordance with the conditions laid down in the applicable integra-ted permits and applicable legislation. The company also operates 5 small air pollution sources in vicinity of Šaľa and Strážske, Močenok and Trnovec nad Váhom.

Compliance with emission limits for pollutants released into the atmo-sphere is demonstrated in several ways – technical calculations, period-ic measurements carried out by authorized persons and, on selected plants, by the means of continuous measuring systems.

The company is a mandatory participant in the greenhouse gas emis-sions trading scheme. Based on the National Allocation Plan for 2013-2020, nitrous oxide emissions from the nitric acid plant at workplaces in Šaľa and Strážske as well as emissions from the energy department, all energy facilities in production plants and ammonia production plant are monitored.

Duslo, a.s. is also the operator of a continuous air quality measuring system located in the village Trnovec nad Váhom and is part of the monitoring network of the SHMI as the so-called suburban background station. Concentrations of particulates (PM10), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) as well as meteorological parameters are continuously monitored.

INDUSTRIAL WASTEThe management of waste generated within the company is highly sophisticated and in full accordance with the priorities of the waste ma-nagement hierarchy. For all types of waste, recycling and other recovery is preferred to disposal. Waste is collected and sorted by species accor-ding to the method of further disposal. The recyclable waste is handed over to external organizations for processing. Combustible waste, not suitable for recycling, are recovered for energy in Duslo waste incine-ration plant. Available waste incineration capacities are at disposal for external organizations. Waste that cannot be recovered for material resp. energy are categorised and disposed of at the landfi ll of hazardous waste, resp. on the landfi ll of other waste.

CHEMICAL SUBSTANCESOur company, as a manufacturer but in some cases also as an importer of chemicals, meets all the requirements stipulated within the REACH regulation.

We have registered organic and inorganic chemicals in various regis-tration periods. Substances produced in the largest tonnage band of more than 1000t/y were mostly manufactured and used for the produ-ction of fertilizers, 11 substances altogether.

However, our second sector, i.e. products for rubber and special che-mistry, also do not fall short – in individual registration periods, depending on their annual volume produced, we registered 19 substances.

Duslo, a.s., Šaľa workplace, centralized its laboratories in a reconstruc-ted building, thereby focused all the specialists as well as state-of-the-art instrumentation in one building.

The main task of the laboratories remains the same – monitoring the set quality parameters of production plants during the inter-operational inspection and the fi nal inspection of our fi nal products: mineral fertilizers, rubber chemicals, dispersions, adhesives and special products.

Another task is to control the quality of waste water from the plants as well as water from the waste water treatment plant, last but not least, to provide analytical service for internal research and development acti-vities. Beyond this service, we decided to offer our laboratory services also to our external customers.

WATER PROTECTIONOne of the accompanying processes of chemical production in Duslo, a.s. is the production of wastewater that is discharged to a wastewater treatment plant. Duslo, a.s. operates two wastewater treatment plants, one in Bratislava, one in Šaľa. Both plants have been extensively refur-bished during their existence in order to reduce organic and nitrogen pollution in wastewater discharged into surface streams. In 2018 the plants treated 7019 m3 of waste water.

At its workplace Šaľa, Duslo, a.s. uses a sludge pond Amerika I which servers for accumulation and controlled discharge of pu-rifi ed waste water from the Ionex station into the Váh river. Ornitho-logical monitoring has also been carried out on the site for many years which has shown that the sludge pond is currently a very important nesting site for many rare and European important bird species.
