Only three more months to the most exciting race – the DBS Marina Regatta

(DBSMR2016)!

In preparation for the big day, we would like to keep you up to date with new

information and updates in this second bulletin.

Get ready to compete against the region’s best!

In addition to local teams, provisional entries or intentions to compete in the

DBSMR2016 have been received from Overseas Club and Corporate Teams

from Brunei, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia. There is also

interest from National Teams in the region (to compete in a dedicated National

Team only racing category). With all this interest, we are looking forward to

more teams and more competition!

With so many teams interested, do register early to avoid disappointment!

regatta fees are available in Bulletin 1 and this Bulletin.

1. ONLINE REGISTRATION

All Singapore and Overseas Teams, Tertiary and Corporate teams are required to

register their confirmed entry from 10th March 2016 till 10th April 2016. Confirmed entries

must be entered by the Team Manager through the online registration system at:-

Overseas teams are advised to arrive in Singapore early to enjoy training

opportunities.

3. COMPETITION REGULATIONS AND RULES OF RACE

The races will be run in accordance with the IDBF Competition Regulations and

Rules of Racing with specific DBSMR Entry Rules. A copy of the DBSMR Entry

Rules is available on SDBA website at www.sdba.org.sg or DBSMR 2016

website www.dbsmarinaregatta.com.

5. RACE PROGRAMME

6. ELIGIBILITY

6.1 Each Singapore and overseas team can send MAXIMUM ONE (1) CREW

to participate in the racing categories listed below. Due to limited

availability of racing slots in each category, registration will be based on

the order of receipt of the registration form (First-come, first-served basis).

6.2 Each Singapore team can send MAXIMUM TWO (2) CREWS to participate

in the racing categories listed below. Due to the limited availability of racing

slots in each category, the second crew will be subjected to the availability

of the remaining category slots and acceptance of team registration based

on the order of receipt of the registration form (First-come, first-served

basis).

6.3 DB22 DBS SINGAPORE PREMIER OPEN

This category is open to Singapore and overseas dragon boat club teams.

6.4 DB12 DBS SINGAPORE PREMIER WOMEN

This category is open to Singapore and overseas ALL-WOMEN dragon

boat club teams.

6.5 DB12 DBS SINGAPORE PREMIER MIXED

This category is open to Singapore and overseas dragon boat club teams.

IDBF mixed ratio rules will apply.

6.6 DB22 DBS SINGAPORE TERTIARY OPEN

1. This racing category is open exclusively to Singapore and overseas

universities, polytechnics, ITE, Junior College and institutes of tertiary

education.

2. Each paddler, drummer, steersman and reserve in the tertiary team

shall at the time of registration, be a matriculated or registered student

with the university, polytechnic, ITE, Junior College and institutes of

tertiary education as of 1st January 2016.

3. For final year students’ eligibility, the date of completion of the final

examinations is considered to be 31st December 2016.

6.7 DB12 DBS SINGAPORE TERTIARY WOMEN

1. This racing category is open exclusively to Singapore and overseas

universities, polytechnics, ITE, Junior College and institutes of tertiary

education’s all-women team.

2. Each paddler, drummer, steersman and reserve in the tertiary women

team must be ALL-FEMALE and shall at the time of registration, be a

matriculated or registered student with the university, polytechnic, ITE,

Junior College and institutes of tertiary education as of 1st January

2016.

3. For final year students’ eligibility, the date of completion of the final

examinations is considered to be 31st December 2016.

6.8 DB12 DBS SINGAPORE TERTIARY MIXED

1. This racing category is open exclusively to Singapore and overseas

universities, polytechnics, ITE, Junior College and institutes of tertiary

education.

2. IDBF mixed ratio rules will apply.

3. Each paddler, drummer, steersman and reserve in the tertiary mixed

team shall at the time of registration, be a matriculated or registered

student with the university, polytechnic, ITE, Junior College and

any branch or subsidiary thereof provided that it is so registered.

2. Participating overseas teams must be from Multi-National-Corporations

(MNC) and/or Internationally-listed companies (i.e. international audit

and accounting firms, etc.)

3. Please take note that if an overseas team is not eligible for the

Corporate Open category, the team is advised to participate in the

Singapore Premier Open category.

4. Singapore Statutory Boards and Partly Corporatized Government

Entities are also eligible to participate in this category.

5. Paddlers, drummers and reserves must be full time, salary-paid

employees at the time of registration and at the time of the race.

Exception is accorded only to the Steersperson.

6.10 DB12 DBS SINGAPORE CORPORATE WOMEN

1. This racing category is open to All Women teams from Singapore

companies registered under the Companies Act or under any

corresponding previous legislation and includes any corporate formed

or incorporated outside Singapore and any branch or subsidiary thereof

provided that it is so registered.

2. Participating overseas teams must be from Multi-National-Corporations

(MNC) and/or Internationally-listed companies (i.e. international audit

and accounting firms, etc.).

3. Please take note that if an overseas team is not eligible for the

Corporate Women category, the team is advised to participate in the

Singapore Premier Women category.

7. CREW HISTORY

Each Singapore and overseas team will be asked to provide a brief description

(100 words) plus photographs of their members, for inclusion in the DBSMR

2016, by 15th May 2016.

8. PRIZE MONEY AND MEDALS/TROPHIES

This year, to encourage more teams to join the DBS Marina Regatta, prize

money will be split between the 200m and 500m races instead of combining the

race results for both distances as was done in previous years.

Winning medals will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of each category.

There will be no overall champion trophy with the new format.

9. OVERSEAS TEAM TRAINING/FAMILISATION

Training/familisation sessions will be available from 8am to 6pm on below dates

- Training sessions will be reserved on a first come, first served basis.

- Each team will be allocated a maximum of two slots only.

- For safety reasons and boat availability, walk-in for boat trials will not be

entertained. Please note a confirmation email for training sessions reservation

will be sent to the team. Please print the confirmation email and present to the

attending staff at the boat trial. If teams are unable to present the confirmation

email, staff will arrange training sessions according to the organizing

committee’s record.
