April 2018
Dear Community of Joy,Thank you for inviting friends to join you on Easter Sunday. Easter really is the culmination of our Christian teaching. It also offers us the opportunity to engage so many of our friends, family and neighbors with the good news of Christ. As we follow up with those who visited Tallowood, let me
encourage all of us to be intentional in our relationships. Studies show that people go to church when they are invited by others.
Please continue to pray for us as we seek God’s will and purpose in adding ministers to our team to help us fulfill our mission. In our 2020 study we met with an outstanding consultant, Charlie Baker to think about our future plan for our ministry team. Would we replace each minister who left immediately or build a team to meet our needs going forward into the future? One result of those conversations is the initiation of a search for a Discipleship Pastor. Ethan Shinogle is leading our search team to find someone to lead us in Disciple making through our Adult Bible Study ministry. This committee has engaged in intensive prayer seeking God’s plan. Please pray with us that God will bring the person he has picked out to join us in the work.
I am so grateful for all the ministers who lead the ministries of Tallowood. God has assembled an amazing group of leaders to help us to make relationships, make disciples and make a difference. Cheryl Richardson is leading us in our annual Serve the City day on April 21. I hope you are planning to join us for this day of missions and ministry as we all work together to serve our city by meeting practical needs of others around us. On March 18 I preached a Disciplines of Discipleship sermon in which I asked all of us to pray this prayer: “Lord as you will, show me someone that I may serve for you today.” Would you pray that prayer with me? God will bring someone when you least expect it. When he does, be ready to serve. Every day is serve the city day for Tallowood!
We love loving you,
