RETURNIG TO WORSHIP IN OUR CHURCH GUIDELINES
We are now able to return to Mass in person and we look forward to welcoming you back to Church. Please be aware everything is different from how it was before lockdown began. The pandemic is still with us and our safety is important. We will begin with a limited number of Masses each week and will regularly review that based on the demand and the availability of stewards and cleaners to help us provide a safe environment adhering to Diocesan and Government Regulations. We need to restrict numbers and seat people and families safely. Many should not try to attend. These include the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions who have been advised to remain in self-isolation. Whilst Catholics have an obligation to attend Sunday Mass every week, this obligation remains suspended by the Bishops during the pandemic. If you can attend any day of the week, please consider the limited space at weekends and those who are working during the week and unable to come then. It would be helpful if you stated your flexibility when asking to book a place, as we would be willing to get back to you if spaces were still available at weekend Masses. Please note the following arrangements You will need to book a place at Mass by visiting our parish website https://parish.rcdow.org.uk/tottenham/events/ or emailing [email protected] up to 24 hours before the Mass you wish to attend and the number of places required, including children. If you really can’t use Internet, please phone 020 8808 3554 and leave a message. Leaving a message does not mean your booking is confirmed, please make sure you have a phone call confirmation of your booking. Places are limited due to safe distancing and will be on a first come first served basis. There will be no car parking available on any church or school grounds until further notice. The areas of Brereton Road and in front of the presbytery are being used by the builders working on the boundary wall. The school playground will not be used at weekends to ensure it remains a safe environment for school. Haringey Council parking restrictions will be back in operation from Monday. The hours of operation are 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday adjacent to church. At long as football matches are played behind closed doors there will be no event day restrictions that usually extend hours of operation.
Drivers should consider where they will park and allow time to do so. Parking may be available in Brereton Road when you pay by phone on weekdays. Please see details on the Council website https://www.haringey.gov.uk/parking-roads-and-travel/parking/pay-phone Alternatively, you may wish to park within the Tottenham Event Day parking zone which only operates when events are on at the stadium. The area nearest to church is between but not on Park Lane and Lansdowne Road. Please check signs in each bay carefully as where you park is your personal responsibility. https://www.haringey.gov.uk/parking-roads-and-travel/parking/controlled-parking-zones-cpzs/tottenham-event-day-cpz Arriving at Church Please arrive at the church door in good time, up to ten minutes before the start of Mass. There are certain number of places allocated for registered people and few ones for those who just turn up. If people attend without a booking, they will be asked to wait outside church, in a safely distanced queue. From two minutes before Mass stewards will offer remaining spaces to those queueing, so if you arrive late your booked space may no longer be available. Please remember to bring and use a face covering. On entering church, Stewards will ask you to give your details so we can check the booking list, use the hand sanitizer and sit where told to, which may not be your usual seat. Please respect Stewards and Cleaners, without them we could not open the church, and follow their instructions at all times. Kneelers will not be used. Please remain in your seat until Stewards indicate when you should join the safe queue for the distribution of Communion. Moving around church must be in the direction of the arrows only and ensuring you remain a safe distance from others. We are not allowed to sing during Mass, have bidding prayers, or shake hands at the Sign of Peace. The restrictions on saying the Rosary as a group or communal prayers before or after services remains. Please leave the church following safe distancing within five minutes of the end of Mass. The volunteers need to clean the church before leaving. The collection will not be taken during Mass but a basket will be available as you leave, so that planning giving envelopes, loose plate
collection, Mass Offerings, 200 Club clearly marked etc can be safely dropped into it. The Diocese has instructed all priests to go to the Sacristy immediately after Mass and remove vestments. Please do not go to the Sacristy as it remains out of bounds. Fr David will come out to the front of the church to be able to see people at a safe distance if required. Although it will be lovely to see each other again please remember to maintain safe distances at all times, your safety and well-being is important to us.
