Different types of DeafnessConductive-happens when sound is not conducted through the outer of inner ear, this type of Deafness is mild.Unilateral- is Deafness in one ear.Bilateral-is Deafness in both ears.Sensorineural hearing loss (sometimes called nerve deafness) When hearing loss is due to problems of theinner earor hearing nerve and typically gets worse over time. Some people say that they are able to hear, but dont always understand what people are saying.Mixed hearing loss-Refers to a combination of conductive and sensorineural hearing loss. This means that there may be damage in both theouter or middle ear and in theinner ear.

6) Acquired hearing loss-is where hearing is lost over a period of time, the most common cause of acquired hearing loss is personal stereos.7) Moderate hearing loss-is noticeable as person will have difficulty participating in activities.8) Severe hearing loss-people will normally be seen wearing hearing aids, unless they are Deaf and use sign language as their primary form of communication.

The difference between deaf and Deaf

deaf relates to those people who are post lingually deaf, and refers to deafness or hearing loss.

Deaf, people identify themselves as culturally deaf and have a strong deaf identity. These will have gone to Deaf schools and grown up in Deaf households.
