Limari Valley, CHILE. ORIGIN/ Limari Valley. Located in the north of Chile, a wide range of different soil types and climates can be found when one progresses from the Pacific Ocean to the Andes Mountains. The grapes for this wine come from a vineyard only 19km from the sea, which means that this vineyard receives all the influence of the Humboldt Current, in the form of a fresh breeze that comes in from the sea. SOIL/ The soil type corresponds to a very old alluvial terrace of the Limarí river, where the first layer of the profile is very particular because of the presence of organic minerals and high levels of calcium carbonate. The second layer of the soil profile is a mix of clay and gravel, and the bottom of the profile is composed of sand and clay with a layer again of gravel and stones. The synergy of the soil with the climate of this area have made that these grapes year after year produce a wine with great personality, above all because of the minerality and high natural acidity. CLIMATE/ Cold climate near the sea. HARVEST/ The grapes were hand picked during the third week of March. GRAPE VARIETIES/ 100% Chardonnay. AGING/ 11 months in french oak barrels. WINEMAKERS’S NOTE/ Yellow in colour with greenish hues. Fresh and elegant nose with medium intensity. Aromas of mineral and tropical fruits such as papaya. The palate is fresh with good acidity, again displaying mineral notes with a saline touch. Good volume, creamy and persistent finish. Cellaring Recommendations: Can be enjoyed now or kept up to 5 years. Serving Temperature: 11 - 12°C. Serving Suggestions: To accompany grilled lobster, fish with sauces of medium intensity, white meats. Decantation: Not necessary. De Martino Single Vineyard "Quebrada Seca" Chardonnay 2009 These wines, from very small properties and limited production, are the fruit of the work we started in 1996 investigating Chile from north to south and vinifying over 350 different terroirs. Of these, only a few were selected, with the objective to create wines that are a true reflection of their origin. This line shows the diversity of Chile and represents its best terroirs. It is a journey thourgh our geography, where each wine tells us a new and unique story. www.demartino.cl
