www.demartino.cl Maipo Valley, CHILE. ORIGIN/ The grapes comes from the De Martino family's organic vineyard in the Maipo Valley. The vineyard is located on a river delta, which contains a large quantity of rocks. SOIL/ The soils form part of an alluvial terrace that dates back to around 700 years ago. The soil profile is a mix of sand, clay and gravel of different sizes, which allows for a very deep rooting system. CLIMATE/ Mild-warm climate. HARVEST/ The harvest took place during the second week of May. GRAPE VARIETIES/ 100% Carmenère. AGING/ 14 months in French oak barrels. WINEMAKER’S NOTE/ This 2007 version of our very special and highly awarded Carmenère from our "Alto de Piedras" terroir (Isla de Maipo, Maipo Valley) has a deep, dark, almost purple, colour. The aromas have a great intensity and excellent fruit expression that remind one of all kinds of berries. The ripeness of the fruit is surprising and the tannins fill the mouth with power and excellent maturity. The wine is concentrated and ripe, but without losing the elegance and finesse that always characterises this wine. Cellaring Recommendations: Drink now or cellar for 8 years. Serving Temperature: 16° - 18°C. Serving Suggestions: Ideal as an accompaniment to lamb, duck and any rich meat with spices. Decantation: Recommended. De Martino Single Vineyard "Alto de Piedras" Carmenère 2007 From very specific vineyards and very limited productions, these wines are the fruit of the work that we began 11 years ago, traveling through Chile from north to south and vinifying grapes from more than 350 different terroirs. We have chosen a select few to make wines that are a true reflection of their place of origin. This line shows Chile’s diversity and represents its finest terroirs. They represent a journey through our geography in which each wine tells a new and distinct story.
