Pinch by LaCividina, an Idea of Space What happens to the padding of a sofa when it is touched, pressed, pinched? Is it like combining this tactile experience with the functionality of a chair destined for the home instead of a public space? These are the questions posed by Pinch, a new project by Skrivo Design for LaCividina, on show at the Salone del Mobile 2016.Pinch takes the two most frequently used materials in modern sofas: polyurethane foam, which changes form when subjected to pressure; and steel, the sturdy material par excellence. In the series Pinch by LaCividina, the tubular metallic structure literally “pinches” the backrest and sides, redistributing them so that the padding takes on a fluffy appearance, soft and snug; a genuine source of comfort. With its game of joints, the shape and form of Pinch is an invitation to privacy and tranquility, to sharing a space in a new and functional way.
14
LaCividinaSince 1976, LaCividina has created upholstered seating for the contract and residential sectors, creating a middle ground between man-made artisanal projects and the ingenuity of Italian and international designers. At its headquarters in Martignacco in the province of Udine, every day is an exercise in the organization and balance of quality worthy of global production standards and the finest Italian craftsmanship. The process of transforming creative ideas into new projects includes combining the most basic details and technical specifications with the eccentricities of LaCividina. Each collection is the result of a study into the selection of forms, colors, and materials that result in both beauty and ergonomic function.
1976-2016Forty years of know-how and passionIn 2016, LaCividina celebrates its forty years: a story of excellence and resilience in which Carlo Bulfoni builds a legacy from the ruins of a devastating earthquake, together with designers and upholsterers disposed to follow him in projects inspired by Italian design in full development. The entrance of his son Fulvio into the company, now in charge along with work and life partner Paola Mesaglio, coincides with the acquisition of important supply contracts from all over the world, benefitting from the know-how of artisans, an organization that manages to survive a growing market, excellent art direction by the architect Luca Botto, but above all the brand LaCividina, whose present-day value is internationally recognized.

Tema di quest’anno “Nuovi materiali, nuovo design/New Materials, New Design”.
