Applications

DDHF/Ms have been designed to fit the requirements for onshore and offshore water injection applications. The design is an improvement of that previously referenced as DDM and includes some features of a pump designed and tested by Nuovo Pignone for water injection in direct connection with a gas turbine running at 10000 rpm. The other services that can employ DDHF/Ms are: boiler feedwater, pipeline, amine, energy recovery and CO2 injection. One of the main requirement for the pumps selected for high pressure water injection is the reliability and many design features have been introduced to address this essential need. BHGE Nuovo Pignone, during the selection process, can perform the optimization of the complete system conforming to the objectives of the specific customer for example in terms of CAPEX, OPEX and operability. One of the main accessories that need to be selected are the booster pumps. The selection of both main and booster pumps is performed jointly to obtain the best combination.

Design Features

1. Centerline mounting of barrel to increase tolerance to thermal expansion. 2. Inlet channel shaped to optimize flow uniformity and reduce NPSHR. 3. Lifting lugs and many other design features to facilitate assembly and

handling of components. 4. Impellers shrunk on shaft by heating and double key to minimize

residual unbalance. 5. Cover held in place by shear rings to minimize assembly/ disassembly

time. Available for all frame sizes. 6. Bearings with forced lubrication. All frames fitted with

proximity probes and RTDs. 7. Mechanical seal chamber compliant with API682/IS021049

to accommodate the most complex configurations. 8. The rotor is designed to operate below its first critical

speed to increase reliability and life of seals. The shaft is stepped to facilitate mounting of impellers.

9. Precision-casted impellers to maximize performance predictability and hydraulic radial load balance. Optional first stage impeller with large eye diameter for reduced NPSH.

10. Hard coating on all mating surfaces of stage seals and balancing drum to increase life.

11. Balancing drum shrunk on shaft by heating to minimize residual unbalance. Swirl brakes for enhanced rotor stability even when operating in late-lifecycle worn condition.

Customer Support BHGE can provide support during the initial engineering phases with feasibility studies of special purpose pumps or complete pumping systems. Full onsite support during installation and commissioning is available to guarantee flawless execution, quick response trough ownership of results. A remote monitoring and diagnostic service is also available. Once the systems are installed BHGE can support the continuous improvement of the operability with conversion, modifications and upgrades: Some of the possible options are:

- Modification to the impellers or replacement of the diffuser to match actual operating conditions.

- De-stage - Upgrade of the wear rings with new

ones made of composite materials to reduce the internal leakages and increase the efficiency in case of clean fluids.

- Superfinishing of internal wetted surfaces to increase efficiency.
