Location and Accaaa
Tha Canico fractional watar claim (KRL 999966) ia locatad in
tha Bruca Channal of Rad Laka, aaat of McKanzia laland in Dona
Township. Accaaaibility to tha claim ia providad via an ica road
during tha wintar running fro* tha Marina in Cochanour, aouth
through tha Bruca Channal to Rad Laka. Tha claim abuta Wilanour
Partnarahlp ground to tha aaat.
Ragional Gaology
Tha Canico fractional claim ia aituatad within tha Rad Laka
Graanatona Bait, an araa of aupracruatala lying on a granita
gnaiaa baaamant and intrudad by larga ovoid batholitha and atocka
of diorita and granodiorita compoaition. Tha bait forma part of
tha Uchi Subprovinca of tha Archaan Suparior Provinca of tha
Canadian Shiald and ia approxlmataly 30 milaa long and up to 16
milaa wida.
Originally thraa atratigraphic packagaa wara racognizad in
tha Rad Laka araa including; a lowar mafic aaquanca, a calc
alkalina aaquanca and a mataaadimantary unit. Inatruaivaa of tha
packaga vary from falaic to intarmadiata aubvolcanic intruaiona
to mafic to ultramafic intruaiona and batholithic atocka. Racant
data from Pb data* on zircona indicata two diatinct graanatona
diviaiona (ea. 2*000 my ; 2700 my) which divldaa tha Rad Laka
1. Oldar mafic packagaa coaprlaing tholaiitic baaalt and koaatii-
tlc unita with tha uaual intarflow aadiaanta of Minor datrital
and chamical ( IF- chart) typa. Thia ia found aa tha baaamant
undar Campball-Dickanaon Minaa atratching north towarda Eaat Bay
and to tha aouthwaat, to tha aouth of Trout Bay and northwaat to
waat of Hadaan Hina.
2. Youngar aixad packagaa with nora claatic aadimanta and acid
volcanic unita aa wall aa local thick iron foraationa running E-W
and NE-SW right acroaa tha bait.
3. Trout Bay - Plpaatona Bay "baain" with a koaatiitic cora,
baaalta, andaaitaa and rhyolitic rocka and including a aignific-
ant aadiaantary carbonata unit (containa Archaan atroaatolitaa)
to tha waat.
Mataaorphiaa
Tha Rad Laka Graanatona Bait containa both graanachiat and
aaphibolitic faciaa aataaorphic zonaa. Aaphibolitic faciaa zonaa
ara diatributad aa haloa along tha aargina of granitic
batholitha.
Property Gaology
Sinca tha claia la aituatad banaath watar, geology of tha
proparty la inferred fro* paat drilling. Drill holaa indicata
that tha proparty ia underlain by Tlmiakaming sedimentary rocka
including a thick unit of oxida and aulphida faciaa iron forma
tion aituatad within a aarlaa of claatic netaaadiaenta. Minor
intercalated falaic volcanica ara alao inferred. A zone of fuch-
aitic alteration aaaociated with araenopyrite Mineralization ia
thought to occur at the baae of the iron formation.
Pravioua Work
No actual work haa been completed on the claim although Eaao
conducted a amall drill programa to tha Immediate north of the
property. Of five holea drilled, two holea intersected zonea of
atrong fuchaitic alteration containing acattarad araenopyrite. No
appreciable aaaaya were returned. An earlier hole (further north)
drilled by Cochenour-Wiliana from the northern aide of the Point
Rock eaaantially interaected a wide zone of Timiakaming argil
lite. No mineralization waa found.
Work Program
Diamond drill hole 76607-0 wa* deaigned to interaect the
fuchaitic alteration zone (diacovered in earlier Eaao drilling)
N. Morlssette Canada Incorporated of Haileybury, Ontario
atarted tha diamond drill hola on 12/02/86 and completed tha hola
on 17/02/68. Tha hola waa collarad on tha Cochanour Hina grid at
10070.4 N, 9101.4 E and waa drillad to a final footaga of 815.0
faat.
Results
Hola 78607-0 intaraactad a aariaa of Timiskaming bandad iron
formations, conglomerates and baddad sediments at tha top of tha
hola, while the bottom half of the hole is characterized by
talcose ultramafica, mafic volcanics and point rock (siliceous
Intrusive ?). No assaya of significance were returned.
For complete details refer to the appended log.
Conclusion
Tha zone of fuchaltic alteration interaected in earlier Eaao
drilling to the north waa not encountered. This may indicate that
tha zone is truncated or may swing abruptly to the east and
extend onto the Annco property of the Cochenour Mine.
