Manual conventions For clarity this user manual uses consistent styles, symbols and typographical conventions. They are:

General notes are contained within rules and indicated with this symbol at the left margin. Notes are used to draw attention to special actions or information.

Typographical conventions The following typographical conventions (text styles) are used in this manual: • Typed input - information to be typed in using

<enter>, <shift>, etc. • Multiple keys - input via a combination of keys

pressed together is shown as: <ctrl>+<p>, <alt>+<f4>

1 Install the Download and License Tool

1.1 Introduction The Download and License Tool is used to download: • Software into the Central Control Unit • Software into device which are connected to the

optical network: Audio Expanders, Cobranet Interfaces and Integrus Transmitters.

• Fonts into the Concentus delegate and chairman units which graphical displays

• Download the license key into the Central Control Unit

This user manual explains how to install and use the Download and License Tool.

Please read the Installation and User Instruction before using this Download and License Tool.

i Note

Before installing the software, it is advisable to make back-up copies and store them in a safe location.

1.2 Installing the software The software can be used on Windows XP Professional.

i Note

If you wish to make the software available to all users, you must first logon as an administrator before beginning the installation.

The CD-ROM will start automatically, if the CD-ROM doesn’t start automatically:

• Click on the ‘Start’ button and select the ‘Run...’

A dialogue box will appear containing a text field:

• Type <drive>:\setup.exe and click on the ‘OK’ button. Where <drive> is the CD-ROM drive.

Internet explorer is started and a webpage is shown.

i Note

The webpage is optimized for Microsoft Internet Explorer.

• Select ‘Install software’ to go to the Install software page.

• Click the bullet after ‘Start Download and License Tool Installation’.

i Note

It may happen that a security warning is shown. In this case select ‘Run’ to start the installation.

1.2.1 The installation procedure The InstallShield Wizard starts and prepares for installing:

The InstallShield stops if any of the following issues are not fulfilled: • Windows 2000 or Windows XP • Pentium III or higher • Hard Disk present • At least 30 MB free space at the Hard Disk The preparation will take some time. When it is complete, a window will appear:

• Click the ‘Next’ button

The license Agreement window appears:

Please read the license agreement carefully.

• Click the ‘Print’ button to print to license text

• Click the ‘Yes’ button to accept the agreement

• Click the ‘Back’ button to go back to the DCN Next Generation Download and License Tool Setup window

If the ‘Cancel’ button (or the ‘No’ button in the license agreement window) is pressed during the

installation process, the installation will be cancelled and the following window appears:

• Click the ‘Yes’ button to quit the setup

• Click the ‘No’ button to continue

If the ‘Yes’ button is pressed the following window is displayed:

1.2.2 Installing the files InstallShield displays the destination folder for the program files on the Hard Drive where the Download and License Tool will be installed:

• To change the folder click the ‘Browse’ button

• Click the ‘Next’ button to keep the folder

If the ‘Browse’ button is pressed the following window appears:

• Select or key in your new folder and click the ‘OK’ button.

• Click the ‘Cancel’ button to keep the pre-selected folder.

The InstallShield prompts an error if any of the following issues are not fulfilled: • The folder entered is not valid (or read only). • The drive specified is not a Hard Disk • The drive specified must have at least 30 MB

free space. The following window is displayed:

After the installation of the Download and License Tool Program the DCN Download Files must be installed. The following window appears:

The license Agreement window appears:

Please read the license agreement carefully.

• Click the ‘Print’ button to print to license text

• Click the ‘Yes’ button to accept the agreement

• Click the ‘Back’ button to go back to the DCN Next Generation Download and License Tool Setup window

If the ‘Cancel’ button (or the ‘No’ button in the license agreement window) is pressed during the installation process, the installation will be cancelled and the following window appears:

• Click the ‘Yes’ button to quit the setup

• Click the ‘No’ button to continue

When the DCN Download Files Setup Program is finished the following window appears:

• Click the ‘Finish’ button.

After a while the following window appears and the setup is complete:

1.3 Removing the Download and License Tool

The Download and License Tool can be removed by using the standard Microsoft ‘Add/Remove Programs’.

• Select ‘DCN Download and License Tool’ and click ‘Change/Remove’

The following windows appears:

• Click the ‘OK’ button to remove the tool

• Click the ‘Cancel’ button to cancel the removal process

When InstallShield is finished removing the following window appears:

The DCN Download Files can be removed in the same way.

2 Operating the Download and License Tool

2.1 Introduction The DCN Download and License Tool is a Microsoft .Net based application. It contains a menu and an icon bar in which the functions can be selected.

2.2 Setup the connection First the connection with the CCU must be configured.

• Select ‘Tools, Options’ from the menu bar or click the ‘Options’ button as shown in the picture below.

The following window appears:

• Select the connection where the CCU or the NCO is connected.

• In case of a CCU, select the ‘Serial Port’ of your PC where the CCU is connected to and select the correct ‘Baud Rate’.

• In case of a NCO fill out the IP address of the NCO.

• Click ‘OK’ to accept the settings

• Click ‘Cancel’ to discard the changes and keep the previous settings

2.3 Download the CCU or NCO To download software into the CCU or NCO:

• For CCU Select ‘Tools, Download CCU, Wireless/Wired’ , for NCO select Tools, Download NCO’ from the menu bar or click the required button as shown in the picture below.

In case of Wired CCU and NCO the following image is shown:

• Select the required languages and click ‘OK’

• Click ‘Cancel’ to stop the CCU download

i Note

The English unit language is always selected and cannot be deselected. Due to memory size of some fonts, the following languages cannot be combined: Japanese, Czech, Russian, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Lithuanian, Slovenian, Polish, Slovak, Romanian.

The download of the CCU starts with step 1 of 2 and the following images shows the progress.

When the download finishes step 1 the system resets itself and continues with step 2.

i Note

During the reset after step 1 and after step 2 it may happen that al small tick is heard in the system.

When the download is finished to the following windows appears:

2.4 Download Optical Devices To download the optical devices connected to the CCU:

• Select ‘Tools, Download Optical Devices’ from the menu bar or click the ‘Download Optical Devices’ button as shown in the following picture.

i Note

Disconnect all CCU’s when downloading optical devices from the NCO.

The Download and License Tool prepares the download by browsing the network for downloadable optical devices. If no download device are found the following windows is shown:

• Click ‘OK’ to finish.

When there are downloadable optical devices the following window shows the progress.

All downloadable optical devices are sequentially downloaded. For reference purpose the serial number of the optical device is shown during the download.

When the download is finished the following windows appears:

• Click ‘OK’ to finish.

2.5 Downloading Concentus Font If a non Latin character/font language was selected during the download of the CCU, the fonts must be downloaded to the Concentus units. The following languages have non Latin fonts: • Japanese • Czech • Russian • Chinese (simplified) • Chinese (traditional) • Lithuanian • Slovenian • Polish • Slovak • Romanian. The Download and License Tool uses the default system as the font which is downloaded to the Concentus units. To change the system font:

• Select ‘Start, Control Panel, Regional and Languages Options’ and click the tab ‘Advanced’.

• Select the language which matches the language selected during the download of the CCU under ‘Language for non Unicode programs’.

• Click ‘OK’ to activate the changes.

To download fonts to the Concentus units:

i Caution

The CCU with the required unit language must be downloaded before the Concentus fonts are downloaded.

• Select ‘Tools, Download Concentus Fonts’ from the menu bar or click the ‘Download Concentus Fonts’ button as shown in the following picture.

In step 1 the fonts are generated and in step 2 the fonts are downloaded to the Concentus units.

When the download is finished to the following windows appears:

i Caution

The CCU must be downloaded with the required unit language before the Concentus fonts are downloaded.

2.6 Enter License The ‘Enter License’ function is to license the CCU for use in combination with PC control and Open Interface. The license can be purchased at your local dealer.

• Select ‘Tools, Enter License’ from the menu bar or click the ‘Enter License’ button as shown in the following picture.

The following progress indicator appears:

• Click ‘Cancel’ to terminate ‘Enter License’.

• Enter the license for your system and click ‘OK”

If the license is not correct for your system the following message appears:

• Click ‘OK” and correct your license key.

If the correct license has been entered the following message appears:
