information for new and seasoned hikers alike. Each trail

has been thoroughly researched and recently hiked, and includes a detailed description, trail profiles, maps, advice

About the Speaker: As an outdoor enthusiast, Tim Starmer spent most of his child-hood seeking out remote and wild areas whenever possible. During a hiatus from Brown University in 1997, he drove across the United States for six weeks, camping the entire way and exploring many of the West's national and state parks. Tim currently works in upstate New York as a timber framer and can still be found exploring the wilds whenever possible.

The past comes to life in historic photos.

Mary J. Nowyj, author of The Town Of Onondaga - Images Of America by Arcadia Publishing, will

discuss the history of the Town. She will show a short

DVD of various George Kasson Knapp’s paintings depicting the town in the 1800s, and discuss the development of

her book as a story of the town. Registration Encouraged.

About the Speaker: The current Town of Onondaga historian, Mary has lived on Onondaga Hill for thirty-seven years and enjoys researching and exploring how history presents itself in various ways. She taught at Onondaga Community College for twenty-five years and has been involved in community volunteer activities at Hope For The Bereaved, Inter-national Center of Syracuse, Road Scholar Organization, and various local theater groups.

Reincarnation & Past Life Recall

Explore the concept of Reincarnation and Past Lives in this free class. According to Robert Steingraber, 'The understanding of who we are and were is a valuable part of under-standing ourselves and how the past, present, and future all intersect.' Join Robert for a group discussion touching on reincarnation's place in many religions and other's experiences in the field, followed by a Q&A and group 'guided' recall session to try and recover a memory of another time. About the Speaker: Robert Steingraber has been lecturing about and performing Past Life Recall sessions for over 40 years. He learned the

'Hypersentience' technique of recovering past life memories from Dr. John Soric of the Reincarnation Studies Center,

then in Austin, TX.

An Eco-Activist and Ocean Explorer’s Adventures

Wednesday, December 3 @ 7:00 pm Journeys on America's Coasts and Waterways! Live vicariously through the exciting travels of adventurer, eco-activist, ocean explorer, wife and mother, and solo canoe paddler, the irrepressible Margo Pellegrino. This mixed media presentation shares the story of one woman's journeys, the tales of the folks she has met along the way, and the top issues impacting our amaz-ing oceans and waterways and the people who live and depend on them, either for recreation or income. Registration Encouraged.

About the Speaker: Margo Pellegrino is a stay-at-home mother who does a lousy job of staying home. Her excursions on inland waterways and the Atlantic Ocean began in

2007 with a canoe trip from Miami, FL to Camden, ME. Since then, she has

paddled the coasts of the US in partnership with various environmental non-profits, including NJ's own Clean Ocean Action, and currently for a project of

Blue Frontier. In 2015, she will travel from NJ to Chicago in an adventure titled, Paddle4Blue.

Space is limited, and registration is required for each computer class.

AARP Tax Help Beginning Monday, February 2, AARP will provide a free tax preparation service at the DeWitt Community Library. This service is geared toward helping seniors and low-to-middle income families who need help preparing their taxes.

Reservations for appointments are required and are offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 10:00 am, 11:30 am, and 1:30 pm. To make an appointment, stop by the Library’s Front

Desk or call us at (315) 446-3578. Be sure to bring a copy of last year’s filing (if you have one) and a valid form of ID.

The Library will have some tax forms available. Addi-tional forms can be requested from the Librarian on duty or by logging onto one of our public internet computers.

We do charge a .15¢ per page printing fee.

Murder Mystery Party

Tenured Death Friday, March 6 @ 7:00 pm

Professor Peabrain, a collector of rare books and antiquities, is dead. The professor was expected to retire from his position at Syracuse University after the end of the semester. Who is a suspect in the professor’s untimely death?

You’re invited to a mystery at the DCL! Look for clues, interrogate suspects, and solve a crime.

For ages 18 & up!

Are you a fan of whodunnits and crime solving? Discover means, motive, and opportunity as you set out

to solve the crime. Participants will discover who they are upon arrival at the scene of the crime. Additional

clues will be revealed as the evening progresses. There’s

plenty of time to solve the crime, so be sure to enjoy the provided refreshments. A good time will be had by all!

2015 DCL Teen Video Challenge Saturday, December 20 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The DeWitt Community Library challenges you to create an awesome promo video to

“Unmask” the 2015 Teen Summer Reading Program.

Create a Summer Reading video and you could win $150 and your library will receive

$50. The winning video will get national exposure and be posted to the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) website, which is viewed across the country. The

challenge is open to all New York State teens, ages 13 to 18. Accepted videos should be between 30 and 90 seconds in length and include your interpretation of the 2015

CSLP teen slogan “Unmask” for the 2015 Summer Reading Hero theme and promote public libraries and the fun of summer reading. The deadline to enter is February 25,

2015. Get tips on crafting your entry at the DCL!

Welcome to Dewitt Community Library’s series of monthly

programs designed for homeschoolers. Learn more about what the Library offers, meet with other homeschooling

families, and enjoy an activity based on the monthly theme. All are welcome to attend.

Digital Readers’ Theater Thursday, January 15 at 11:00am For Grades 3 & up. Become your favorite popular fictional characters. Read

the script, play a part, and have your voice recorded live.

Learn about digital audio recording, performance, and podcasting as you create your informally staged production

of a popular book or two. Each performance will be rec-orded and a free CD will be made available for all to keep.

Please note: Enrollment in this class is limited to 20 students due to the structure of the program.

Puppet Workshop About Autism Thursday, February 19 at 11:00am For Grades K—3. The Kohl’s Autism & Related Disorders Program presents

an interactive puppet workshop to help us understand and

accept individual differences (specifically autism spectrum and related disorders). This workshop is approximately 30

minutes long and is followed by a question and answer period.

Please note: This program is recommended for students in kindergarten through third grade, but all are welcome to attend.

Registration is required for each session. Please

list the names and ages of all children attending.

Baby Bop M O N D A Y S @ 1 0 : 3 0 A M W E D N E S D A Y S @ 1 0 : 3 0 A M Jan. 5—Feb. 25 For ages birth – 24 months old This lively storytime is appropriate for babies and their

caregivers. Enjoy lap and bouncing rhymes, short books, and songs. The session lasts 20-30 minutes followed by

a playgroup with toys, bubbles, and board books.

Toddler Time T U E S D A Y S @ 1 0 : 3 0 A M Jan 6.—Feb. 24 For ages 2 - 3 years old This fun and active storytime is for toddlers ages 2 - 3

years old and their caregivers. Enjoy stories, action rhymes, songs, and fingerplays for about 30 minutes fol-

lowed by a coloring sheet or simple craft.

Toddler Dance Party Fridays at 10:30 am Dec. 19, Jan. 16 & Feb. 20 For ages 18 months to 5 years

old. Come shake your sillies out and dance with your friends! There will be musical in-

struments, bubbles, and more! Toddlers, preschoolers, and their caregivers will have fun listening and dancing to

some favorite and new tunes.

Drop in Playtime Mondays @ 10:00 am to 12:00 pm December 1 & December 8 For ages birth to 5 years old

Take a break from the holiday hustle and bustle to stop in with your little ones and play with the library’s toys.

Stay for fifteen minutes or two hours. The trains will be out along with some of our other fun toys. Please note: parents and/or caregivers must stay with their children for this playtime.

DCL Friends Annual Meeting

Chuck D’Imperio: Upstate New York

in 100 Words or Less Saturday, January 17 @ 2:00 pm The DCL Friends Annual Meeting presenting Chuck D'Imperio and Upstate New York in 100 Words or Less. Author Chuck D'Imperio presents a fun travelogue that looks at 100 communities in Up-state New York. D'Imperio explored the region and discovered tons of interesting facts, factoids, and trivia, a few of which he’ll share with you. Book signing follows. The evening leads off with a 15-minute DCL Friends business meeting and nomination of new board members. Light refresh-ments will be served. Registration is Recommended. Patrons, ages 16 & up, are encouraged

to borrow our career laptop, which includes many special features useful to the job hunter. The laptop contains

shortcuts to some of the best career-related sites on the web. Find a quiet corner in the Library to work on your

resume and get started on your future!

Borrowers MUST present a valid Library card and photo ID (valid driver license, passport, or sheriff’s ID ONLY). The laptop may be used for up to 3 hours and may not leave the Library.
