LifeSource has one local Transplant Center that currently transplants DCD lungs. (University of MN)

Use of MNUM CT coordinators to assist in lung donor management

Evaluating and working up lungs that would have been ruled out even 2-3 years ago

DCD Lung Evaluation Frequent and through DCD evaluations every

8 hours May deflate cuff and perform CPAP evaluation Careful consideration of bronch/rebronch Aggressive pulmonary toileting: Metaneb q 2

hours, suctioning, nebulizer tx q 2-4 hrs, recruitment maneuvers, O2 challenges q 4 hrs

Outcomes

Transplanted 6 lungs from DCD donors in 2014, up from 2 in 2012 and 2013

All recipients doing well post transplant
