5 Step DDI ProcessIMMEDIATE TURNAROUND (48 hours)• Step 1: Collect and Chart Data

– Data reports (performance, item analysis, standards reports)

• Step 2: Analyze Strengths and Weaknesses– Data reports– Deep analysis (going beyond right

and wrong answers to infer misconceptions)

Page 6: DCA ~ Session 3

5 Step DDI Process• Step 3: Goals

– Deep analysis– Planning– Engage students

• Step 4: Instructional Strategies– Planning– Implementation

• Step 5: Results Indicators– On-going assessments– Accountability

Rigor and Data• Standards with multiple operations• Standards with different levels of

rigor– 5.NBT.7 (Modules 1, 2, 4; Curriculum Map

September, October, February [possible]) Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.

Page 12: DCA ~ Session 3

Rigor and Data• Module 1; Curriculum Map September:

– Addition and subtraction of decimals– Multiply a decimal by a whole number– Divide a decimal by a single digit whole

number• Module 2; Curriculum Map October:

– Multiply decimals for measurement conversion

– Divide decimals with a two digit divisor• Module 4; Curriculum Map February:

– Multiply a decimal by a decimal– Divide a decimal by a decimal

Rigor and DataModule 1; Curriculum Map SeptemberDecimal Addition Meyer has 0.64 GB of space remaining on his

iPod. He wants to download a pedometer app (0.24 GB) a photo app (0.403 GB) and a math app (0.3 GB). Which combinations of apps can he download? Explain your thinking.

Decimal Subtraction

Mrs. Fan wrote 5 tenths minus 3 hundredths on the board. Michael said the answer is 2 tenths because 5 minus 3 is 2. Is he correct? Explain.

Decimal Multiplication

Mrs. Zamir wants to buy 8 protractors and some erasers for her classroom. She has $30. If protractors cost $2.65 each, how much will Mrs. Zamir have left to buy erasers?

Decimal Division Six bakers shared 7.5 kg of flour equally. How much flour did they each receive?

Page 14: DCA ~ Session 3

Rigor and DataModule 2; Curriculum Map OctoberDecimal Multiplication

Josie is 1.4 meters tall. Her sister is 54 cm shorter. Find her sisters height in meters.

Decimal Division 20 polar bears live at the zoo. In four weeks, they eat 9,732.8 pounds of food altogether. Assuming each bear is fed the same amount of food, how much food is used to feed one bear for a week? Round your answer to the nearest pound.

Rigor and DataModule 4; Curriculum Map FebruaryDecimal Multiplication

After just 4 tenths of a 2.5 mile race was completed, Lenox took the lead and remained there until the end of the race. How many miles did Lenox lead the race?

Decimal Division The total distance of a race is 18.9 km. If volunteers set up a water station every 0.7 km, including one at the finish line, how many stations will they have?

Review of Scope & Sequence and Blueprints• Take 10 minutes to…

– Review scope & sequence for Interim Assessment #1

– Finalize blueprint for Interim Assessment #1

Assessment Creation• Google docs• Answer key with well developed

annotations

Vertical Discussion

Calendar Creation• As a district, determine the date

when you will provide Interim Assessment #1 along with the scope & sequence and blueprint for each grade level.

• As a district, determine when each grade level will administer Interim Assessment #1 followed by a data team meeting date (see example provided earlier).

Page 20: DCA ~ Session 3

Vertical Discussion• Please complete 1 form for each

district.• We will collect the results.
