DC REPORT Hi Everyone, February rally turned out to be a rather hot day but despite the heat we still had a good number of riders. Welcome to our new members: Emily, Kyleanne, Annabelle, Weng Yi, Talullah and Jacqui. Hope you enjoyed your first rally day with us! Thanks again to Tori and her father John for running the morning games practice sessions with the help of ex member Charlotte. (Really nice to see Charlotte again!). The older riders had a flat and showjumping lesson with Kathy Kindler and Vanda Morgan. The afternoon consisted of our games competition in our house teams. Well done to everyone who participated, whether on horse or on foot! The apple dunking as our last game was a definite hit with the younger riders who ended up drenched (reminder to self; next time put less water in the buckets). Robertson were our clear winners on 130 points, 2 nd Brodie on 100 points, 3 rd Magee on 90 points and 4 th Wilson on 80 points. We finished the day with our Awards presentations from both the Xmas Gymkhana and the year’s awards. Congratulations to all recipients! The day before the February rally, Sat 16 th Feb, we held our third and final day of the Summer Series SJ competition. It was again well attended and some of the other Pony clubs have enjoyed the Series so much they are considering copying the idea. Thanks again to everyone who helped with this day: especially Kerry, Sharon and Narelle. I think the four of us spent the whole weekend at ponyclub! The last weekend in March two of our members competed at the State Dressage and SJ Championships. Clarissa Bentley Bell competed in the Level 1 Dressage and Lillian Charman was part of the B Grade SJ team. Congratulations also to Clarissa and Monty for winning the WGZ Dressage Series at Grade 1! Lastly, but definitely not least, Millie McDonald and Hammer headed off to Berwick Show to represent our club in the Evan Henry Memorial Event. She did our club extremely proud by winning this event, as well as competing successfully in the other Ponyclub events. Well done Millie!! It was a very hot day so not the most pleasant to be out in the ring. For our March rally we will have Vanessa Canning, Vanda Morgan, Kathy Kindler and Lynda McNeil instructing. As you may have noticed we will be trying out a bit of a different rally plan. We are hoping it will give us more flexibility and allow us to mix the groups up a bit more. Let us know if you like it or not, we would like to try it for at least three rallies and then decide whether to continue with it or not. So give the committee your feedback; we want to make your time/lessons at ponyclub more enjoyable so let us know what you think! Kiy.

Evan

Henry

Memorial

Hi I’m Millie and as most of you know on the 24th of February I rode my pony

Hammer in the extreme heat at the Berwick Show. I was competing in the Evan Henry

Memorial event representing our club. I was against three other girls on massive horses.

There was two parts of the workout to be completed, first there was the flat. I didn’t do

the best workout because Hammer didn’t like the motorbikes on one side of the ring.

The next part of the workout was the obstacle course. This involved opening and closing

a gate, collecting a jacket off of one barrel and placing it on another, walking through

poles on the ground and then reversing back, finally jumping over a small jump and

walking back to the judge on a loose rein. Hammer did everything perfectly but I still

thought we had no chance! Then the judge called for Upper Beaconsfield to come

forward and handed me the shield. I had a really good day all up and was very happy

with my win. I would definitely recommend anyone to go next year as it’s a really

fun day. Well done to Ellie Boura and Georgia Nelson who were also there competing.

Also thankyou to Mum, Dad, Granddad and Karen for helping and watching me.

Millie

We are privileged to have such beautiful grounds for our rallies.

I’m sure everyone enjoys using them. They do not stay beautiful

on their own so we ask that everyone assists with helping set up,

pack away and clean up before they leave, as the old saying goes,

many hands make light work. We would like to thank the parents

that are there to help on a regular basis . Check details on our

calendar for our working bee.
