Since December 5, 2004, we have known you are a lover of God, His Spirit,

and His Word, and your ministry goal for us is to preach and teach the

Word of God with clarity, applicability, and power, so much so that the

“hearers of the Word” become “doers of the Word.”

We appreciate your efforts in this regard and look forward to your

sharing God’s Word with us for many, many years to come.

Congratulations on your 10th Pastoral Anniversary

Remember to give God the glory! It is not only by your own doing.

It’s been said that "A Pastor in need, is a Pastor indeed." No words could better describe what your guidance, hard work and dedication to the Choir has meant to us over the years. We appreciate you taking out time to teach, push and mold

in us the importance of praising the Lord in song, thus making us the best singing aggregation this side of heaven.

Retired Senior Pastor

Reverend Dr. Lee A. Earl is the retired Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Alexandria, Virginia, where he served for 15 years as Senior Pastor. Under Reverend Earl’s leadership, Shiloh grew dramatically, both spiritually and numerically. To accommodate this growth Reverend Earl spearheaded the

construction of an 800-seat Worship Center. Reverend Earl also had the vision to address the need for affordable housing for senior citizens in the City of Alexandria and an eight-unit Housing Development for Seniors was built. Also under his direction, two 501(c)3 organizations were created, Harambee Community and Economic Development Corporation and Harambee Interna-tional Development Corporation, which was later extended into Uganda, East Africa as a non-governmental organization.

Reverend Earl has been recognized by local, state and federal governments for his work, and received the prestigious “The Tenth Point of Light,” from the President of the United States of America. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to community revitalization and has been recognized as an organizer, conference speaker, advocate, trainer and innovator. Through the Center for Neighborhood Enterprise, Reverend Earl trained over 1,500 community leaders in faith-based community development.

Often referred to as “A Preacher’s Preacher,” Reverend Earl has made great strides to help turn around the lives of the homeless, drug addicts, single mothers, families and others in life-threatening circumstances. For 12 years, prior to relocating to Washington, D.C., Reverend Earl served as pastor of Twelfth Street Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan. During his pastorate, a new edifice was constructed; and he received national recognition for reducing crime in the community by 37.5 percent, according to a Harvard University study through REACH, Inc., a community development corporation on the west side of Detroit.

Reverend Earl has served on numerous boards and commissions, including Prison Fellowship Ministries; founding chair of the board of Victim to Victory, a national ministry to victims of crime; served on the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Urban League; and served two years (2009-2010) as President of the NAACP-Alexandria, Virginia Chapter. While in this position, Reverend Earl continued to exercise his passion to fight for the rights of all people.

Reverend Earl is a graduate of Oakland Community College and St. Clair County Community College, where he majored in Business Education. He attended Michigan State University’s School of Urban & Metropolitan Studies; graduated from Ashland Theological Seminary, Ashland, Ohio, with a Master of Arts degree; earned a Masters of Divinity equivalent degree from Virginia Union University School of Theology, Richmond, Virginia; and earned a Doctorate Degree of Ministry from Ashland Theological Seminary, Ashland, Ohio.

For over 45 years, Reverend Earl has been married to the former Zandra Bowman. Together they have three daughters, two son in-laws and are blessed with five grandchildren. With a life’s mission to be an effective, efficient servant, striving to attain excellence, Reverend Earl aims to make his life an expression of his unconditional love for Jesus Christ. He desires to achieve the right attitude and action in every situation, according to Christian principles and values—all to the glory of God and His Kingdom.

bâÜ ctáàÉÜbâÜ ctáàÉÜbâÜ ctáàÉÜbâÜ ctáàÉÜ Reverend Xavier V. Jackson

Senior Pastor Chapman Grove Baptist Church

The Reverend Xavier Vanter Jackson was born the tenth of twelve

children to the late James and Edna Jackson of Big Stone Gap, Virginia.

Because of strong Christian parental background, guidance, and influence, he received Christ at

the early age of twelve and has been blessed with many gifts and talents, which include singing,

choral directing, and palatable culinary skills.

After a long period of running, Reverend Jackson received and accepted his calling to

Proclamation Ministry in August 1997 and was licensed to preach the Gospel by the Shiloh Baptist

Church in Alexandria, Virginia, Reverend Lee A. Earl, Pastor, on January 25, 1998.

Reverend Jackson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of

Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia; a Biblical Studies and Christian Doctrine Diploma from the

Liberty Home Bible Institute, Lynchburg, Virginia; a Master’s Degree in Religious Education from

The Washington Saturday College at Howard University, Washington, D.C.; Master of Ministry in

Preaching from Richmond Virginia Seminary, Richmond, Virginia; and has begun course work

required for the degree of Doctor of Ministry.

A lyric tenor, Pastor Jackson is often called upon as a soloist and to facilitate Music and Praise

and Worship Seminars and Workshops in the midst of many preaching engagements.

Reverend Jackson currently is serving as the tenth Pastor of the Chapman Grove Baptist Church

in Charlottesville, Virginia. He also is Coordinating Pastor of Youth for the City of Charlottesville

and Vicinity; Moderator of the Piedmont District Baptist Association; former President of the

African-American Pastors’ Council of Charlottesville and Vicinity; Chairman of Committee to

Eliminate the Achievement Gap in Albemarle County Schools; Education Committee, Virginia State

NAACP; Founder, Revive Us Again Gospel Music Workshop; Charter Member and Board of

Directors of 100 Black Men of Central Virginia (Mentor of the Year 2013); and Board of Directors

of Piedmont House.

A lover of God, His Spirit, and His Word,

Pastor Xavier V. Jackson’s ministry objective/

goal is to preach and teach the Word of God

with clarity, applicability, and power, so

much so that the “hearers of the Word”

become “doers of the Word.” Thematically,

this can be stated in the words of the old

Negro spiritual: “Lord, I’m running, trying

to make a hundred because ninety-nine and

a half won’t do.”
