Outcome: Strong and stable enrollment in all schools

• This is achieved by:– The elimination of under-enrollment and

overcrowding at PPS schools; and– The continuation of high rates of school-aged

students attending District schools.

Staff criteria for scenarios• All K-5/K-8 schools 50+ students per

grade level – As many schools as possible have the

potential to reach 75+ students per grade level

• All middle schools 150+ students per grade level

Staff criteria for scenarios• As many schools as possible below 105%

utilization– Lower utilization preferred for Title I schools,

schools with expected enrollment growth• Consolidation of middle grades Immersion

programs where feasible• Alignment of HS feeder patterns• Compact boundaries

Highest lever• Grade reconfiguration is more effective at

achieving right-sized schools rapidly—particularly at the middle grades – Boundary change is a slow transition– Due to student density, some boundaries

would have to be much larger—school closures possible

– Program changes impact a limited range of schools
