Editor’s NoteEvery day, the photography staff at the Minnesota Daily brings its readers slices of art, culture, news and sports. At midnight April 10, eight pho-tographers left the Daily offices and fanned out across the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses to document 24 hours in the lives of those who attend class, make their living and spend their days on and near the University of Minnesota campus.

Position: Staff PhotographerMajor: JournalismYear: JuniorFavorite Photo Assignment: I love shooting sports in general, but my favorite was the men’s basketball game against Iowa. The rivalry was so tense, and the play-ers showed so much emotion with every point scored.

Amanda Snyder

Position: Multimedia EditorMajor: JournalismYear: JuniorFavorite Photo Assignment: This special issue. Spending the whole day shooting my favorite places on campus with little sleep was exhilirating. Having it end with a chaotic celebration in Dinkytown is something I’ll never forget.

Bridget Bennett

Position: Asst. Multimedia EditorMajor: JournalismYear: SophomoreFavorite Photo Assignment: Covering the lead-up to same-sex marriage legalization. From voting day to the capitol to the first cer-emony, I was proud to help docu-ment this moment in Minnesota history.

Chelsea Gortmaker

Position: Staff PhotographerMajor: EnglishYear: SeniorFavorite Photo Assignment: I traveled to Ann Arbor, Mich., last fall for the Gophers football game against the Wolverines. We toured the football stadiums at Wisconsin and Notre Dame along the way, and it was a really cool experience.

Alicia McCann

Position: Photo Intern Major: ArtYear: JuniorFavorite Photo Assignment: I covered All-Campus elections the same night Northrop Auditorium opened. There was an exciting, nervous energy as I worked to capture the candidates’ reactions.

Lisa Persson

Position: Staff PhotographerMajor: MicrobiologyYear: FreshmanFavorite Photo Assignment: Shooting the Frozen Four in Phila-delphia. It was a unique experience because it allowed me to travel and work alongside professionals and document Gophers history.

Patricia Grover

Position: Staff PhotographerMajor: Art and journalismYear: SeniorFavorite Photo Assignment: I loved shooting the women’s hockey project “The Price to Play” because I got to meet and photo-graph two Olympic athletes, full of energy despite it being 6 a.m.

Tyler Newman

Position: Staff VideographerMajor: EconomicsYear: JuniorFavorite Video Assignment: I loved making a video about theater students creating new work over 24-hours (like us) because I got to see the unique process and their passion for their craft in action.
