Gene Therapy

• In a genetic disorder, an absent or faulty gene causes problems.

• If we know what gene it is, should we replace it with a functional one?

Gene Therapy• Virus particles are modified so that they cannot cause disease.

• A DNA fragment containing a replacement gene is spliced to viral DNA.

• The patient is injected with the modified virus that attack cells and correct the genetic defects.
