Groggy and tired from last nights events, but still confident and ready to tackle the new day, we set ourselves to work, on this, the last day of ILYMUN 2014. Caffeinated and as rested as possible after last nights party, we have much to do and little time to do it. Hectic writing and frantic editing, fearing the end of the conference and thus the last of our time to interview the delegates, admins, heads and everyone of interest.

After an eventful and even at times emotional closing ceremony, ILYMUN 2015 has come to a close. It is with heavy hearts that we leave the Hotel de Rgion but all is not gloom and doom. We are all expectant and already excited for ILYMUN 2016. Elena Aigle & Clea Moore

    SWEATIN OUT MY BLOWOUT

Last night, there was the much awaited party that we all needed after these two first stressing days. It was organized by the heads of social events Gabriella Boffy, La Ventura and Madeleine Hutin and took place at Les Terrasses du Parc.

Everybody seems to have enjoyed it, the music was relatively good and everybody came and was excited to relax a little bit. The ambience was laid back and nice.

We were all in harmony and it seems to have been representative of the atmosphere at the conference. Some songs made people dance like crazy and the hoard grew hectic and danced spastically.

The heat was intense and oppressive, so we often had to leave and go out onto the terrasse for a moment, where it was much cooler.

In the end, all the stress and the hassle that the organizers went through to make this happen was worth it and it was a great way to bring the participants of the conference together with everyone having fun.

ACTORS IN THIS WORLD Were now in company of Handicap Internationals Jennifer Leger and Csar Jothy who work daily towards taking into account particular needs of the vulnerable people when faced with disasters or crises. We have to take advantage of the situation if we aspire to develop our awareness regarding what is going on in the world but also near us.

As a former student of the CSI, Jennifer surprised the CSI Development Committee delegates when she revealed to them her schooling. Her attendance at the CSl was part of her personal project to learn English in order to work as a humanitarian. It also shaped her open mindedness to the world. After graduating, this confident person focused on psychology and sociology. Studied which she remembered as a great part of her life.

The path she chose guided her in the heart of many crises. For instance, she has been working in Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Kurdistan, Lebanon and recently in Mali, the Ivory Coast, Kenya, Somalia as well as Pakistan. Her interests lie in educational programs where she can focus on child protection and empowerment.

Csar Jothy listened with interest to the words of his partner, as she spoke and we could feel his profound respect for her. Handicap Internal de Lyon recently added him to the team in for internship. It was on this occasion that he met Jennifer. Csar is very ambitious. Managing crises along with Jennifer. He believes that being in accordance with his conviction should be the essence of his profession. In ten days, he will leave for Iraq on a humanitarian journey.

Passion, is the word that guides the lives of these two people. Trying to do something when faced with adversity, is their duty.

Cesars personal experience as a former participant in MUN conferences ignited his thirst for humanitarian actions. He is amazed by ILYMUN 2015s organization. On the one hand, as this experience allows us to have fun, it also, on the other hand, lays foundations to future careers in the diplomatic field. Developing debating skills, shaping personal judgments and opinions are at the heart of the MUN spirit. He encourages this kind of initiative and considers it to be one of the best means of education.

Education is the essence of freedom in society. They believe that it is fundamental to be able to decide for yourself in order to combat ignorance and potential exploitation. Jennifer asks herself about the degree of formatting in the French educational system and wonders if it does not inhibit diversity. Csar considers his personal experience at school as crucial inspiration for the man he strives to be. Be actors in this world, Jennifer.

    BACKSTAGE WITH THE MUCH

    NEEDED

ADMINS Events dont just happen. There are people preparing it every step of the way, and some of them we dont really see. The ambiance is hectic is the

admin room, one can hardly imagine how important the work they do is: Without us the conference couldn't happen said the heads, Julie and Justine.

The admins are, in short, body guarding our guest speakers, welcoming the visitors at the front desk, walking in the hallway and being ready to run when there is important information to pass around, securing the debates, taking care of the coat room, but also helping out and make sure everybody is happy.

However, a conference is never without few problems : sometimes admins are not at the right place at the right moment for example when this morning there was nobody in the coat room and the queue was getting longer and longer. As the heads explain us, they managed to react and the problem was solved very quickly. Some of them told us: Im cold! or I hurt my feet!, and because of the walky talky, the head Justine cant

hear anymore and have no more voice.

The admins can sometimes get bored, because when the delegates and the chairs are debating in committees or at the general Assembly, there is not that much people going around, but take advantage of these moment to make sure the conference is running smoothly.

A big thanks to them, it would have not possible without them!

    BACKTAGE

    WITH THE CSI

    & ISL MUN

    DIRECTORS

Every year, Mrs Trout, from the ISL, and Mr Miller, head of the Anglophone section at the CSI, work together to organise the ILYMUN conference. Itd be very difficult to run this operation if it wasnt for this collaboration, says Mr Miller. They provide a lot of guidance to the students at MUN, I tend to think of us as mentors, mentioned Mrs Trout. In the beginning, delegates are very hesitant and often require the help of Mrs Trout or Mr Miller, but once at the conference their confidence grows and they speak up more and take the floor. The directors only intervene when necessary for it is after all up to the students. We only act as a bridge, specifies Mr Miller. Every year the students change and topic change and the two directors are there to ensure a fluidity of the conferences.

Each year is a new experience, says Mrs Trout, a challenging one, precised Mr Miller. A conference such as this one is usually run by professionals. However, despite the difficulty of setting up ILYMUN, they both agree it is an immense success. From Mrs Trouts point of vue, it is a success when the students become the leaders, whereas to Mr Miller, it is successful because the group has collaborated so efficiently and has always found solutions for problems that have arisen. Everybody has taken their responsibilities, learning from their mistakes and moving forward, they proudly said.

The highlight of my day was when one of the admins of my school, who rarely participates in debates in our club, came up and hugged me and said: This is wonderful! Next year, now I know, I dont just want to be a delegate: Im going to be a chair!, Mrs

Trout happily said, ending the interview.

    BACKSTAGE WITH THE PRESS TEAM

What would there be left of ILYMUN if we didnt have a press team, I wonder.

Indeed, there are many people working to immortalize the memory of these 3 fantastic days. If you think it is an easy task, then think again! You might have not seen much of the press team this year, but only because they were busy behind screens or cameras

The group is composed of the written press who are working on articles, reporting on the committees, or other more light hearted subjects such as who has the best tie or the best dress, the photographers who are immortalizing your best moments at the conference and the video group that is trying to condense the conferences greatest moments with short and funny videos. As you can see on the videos, they all work together as well and seriously as possible but when they have a much needed break, they let go and relax.

In the end, it is all worth it because we all get to produce a way of remembering the great times, be it through articles, images or videos, we are having now so we can look back on them fondly when we go back to our respective mundane lives.

    AARON KIRBY, ORB YOUTH ACTIVISTS

Guest Speaker We were happy to welcome Aaron Kirby, presentation director of iMatter and founder of ORB Youth Activists, as a guest speaker for the Marine Ecosystem Environmental Committee. As a youth activist, he mostly works on climate change. First thing this morning, he came to the Environmental council to introduce about how the marine ecosystem is being affected by overfishing, predator loss, climate change, pollution and habitat destruction.

Ever since he was ten, Kirby has been concerned about the state of the environment. He found an activist who taught him how to look at problems and how to be an activist. After that, he created the ORB organisation. ORB brings together youth to work on environmental issues such as climate change, ocean protection, deforestation, nuclear power and genetically modified foods. Kirby now works for a various number of organisations

The main cause for the increasing degradation of this ecosystem is the emission of CO2. This, he explains, is causing three main facts: ocean warming, ocean acidification and lack of carbonate. Ocean acidification is caused when CO2 is absorbed by the ocean. This releases a hydrogen ion, which then bonds with a carbonate ion, thus taking the carbon out of the water. The lack of carbonate is a problem for calciufiates, such as coral, who need it to build their bodies.

When asked if the ocean was the most breathing ecosystem, he answered that it is probably true. The ocean provides 80% of our carbon through algy.. It is the true lung of the planet . However, he adds, the importance of this ecosystem should not be a reason to neglect others..

Concerning ILYMUN, Kirby thinks that it is an incredible thing: I love seeing kids coming up with policies and I dont think we -being a kid myself - do that enough. We can come up with some stuff that are really applicable and can solve the problem. So I think that developing this mindset is something that a lot of kids need to do.. Judging by the general format of ILYMUN, Aaron thinks that it helps develop the skills that one is going to need in future careers. A lot of kids in the States complain about problems, but never think of the solution, which only adds to the problem. So its definitely important to get

kids to talk and think about processors..

Left to right: Aaron Kirby, Sofia , Emma Eberhardt

In his visit here, he hopes that he has inspired delegates to start thinking about being a youth activist, as well as going into that field. He emphasises that Youth activism isnt something you have to train for - theyre already building the skill set - its something you can do right now.. He adds, As a kid you dont have less power. You have more power.. The delegates here present represents the future generation that are going to be hit by the perfect storm

To youth: get out there. If youre interested, you can contact iMatter and we can try and help you get involved in activism. Get out there, and dont wait to make a change: do it now., were his last words to you all.

    MR. YARON GOTTELIEB ON FREEDOM

    OF SPEECH

Guest Speaker Today, we had the chance to interview Mr Yaron Gottlieb. He is curently works at Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organization. This organization is non-governmental,the goal being of falicitating international police cooperation. It is the second largest international organization after the United Nations in terms of international representation.

He made an interesting yet unusual speech in the Human Rights Committee. He decided to interact with the delegates, asking them questions and letting them participate. The subject he chose was freedom of speech and freedom of expression.

Firstly, he opened the debate by asking the delegates to propose a definition of freedom of speech. Placards of countries were raised high and various delegates spoke up and defined it

as a complete freedom where one may say what he wishes. Others chose to rebut and affirmed that this freedom was not all encompassing. Finally, Mr Gottlieb gave his definition of this freedom wherein he insisted that it was not an absolute right.

He then demanded a definition of the word terrorism. A delegate submitted one by saying that it was an attack against citizens or country to criticize an idea and he accepted it as a valid interpretation. He then moved on to the problem of social networks such as facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. He conceded that they were all very useful but that they could also be used as a weapon. He said that many terrorists group used such platforms to recruit, to spread their ideas, to communicate, to help train their recruits (videos on YouTube on how to shoot a gun, how to create a bomb, etc.), to finance their activities and to collect information (Google Maps). The obvious but very complicated question raised by Mr Gottlieb was: What can we do about it? How can we allow people to use social media, but forbid them to plan terrorism, collect information on citizens, etc. He finished off by asking the committee to try to find an answer to this question and to strike this balance.

He left the room for this interview. Due to his excitement upon hearing the propositions of the delegates, the interview was shortened. However, we had time to touch upon his opinion of

the Model United Nations and freedom of expression.

    !19

  • 24 JAN 2015 INTERNATIONAL LYON MODEL UNITED NATIONS

He told us how lucky the delegates were to be able to participate in such a great and enriching conference and that he wished he had had such an amazing opportunity. He later told us how shocked he was when he had heard what had happened in Paris at Charlie Hebdo. He admitted that he saw in this horrible act of hatred as an opening for some hope. He hopes that France will unite and was glad to see his wish granted when he saw all the French people walking in the streets, holding Je Suis Charlie posters up high.

He hopes that this will be a wake up call to everybody: I truly hope that everyone will make sure that it does not happen again. We then chose to discuss the sensitive subject that is Dieudonn (which he had briefly mentioned during his speech). He condemned Dieudonns words -Je suis Charlie Coulibaly, Coulibaly being one of the terrorists last names, but still believes that he will not have to be taken to court because it was not clear and therefore, could not be punished by the law.

After thanking him, he returned to his committee quickly, to see the delegates lobbying.

HUMANS OF ILYMUN, THE CONCEPT Due to the success of Humans of ILYMUN the previous years, we decided to renew it for this 2015 edition. Of course, we borrowed the idea from Brandon Stantons Humans Of New York. We asked people we came across questions about their lives.

In response to the question Whats your biggest goal in life? Mateus told us that friendships means a lot to him. He has a best friend called Daniel and that he has the ability to stay true to himself no matter the situation, which he really appreciates.

We asked people to tell us a fact about themselves.

Maxime admitted that this was his first time wearing a suit.

Later on, Philippe told us his story. He lived in the United States and sometimes go to Croatia. He has had a multicultural education so when his teacher proposed to him to

    t a k e p a r t i n t h e I L Y M U N conference, he immediately accepted. He really likes this idea of getting to meet people from different countries.

  • 24 JAN 2015 INTERNATIONAL LYON MODEL UNITED NATIONS

Then, we asked Sarah, a member of the press team, about her plans for the future. She responded that she would like to travel all around the world and to become a recognized translator. At the opening ceremony she translated english to french for the first time. She was so excited! (..) One day, this is going to be for real she said.

Finally, we interviewed two friends: Jean and Kilien. They met each other in middle school. Their best memory together was at Kiliens 17th birthday party at his place. The two of them were swimming like sea otters, they had a blast doing it!

    ANGUS THOMSON & MICHAEL GREENBERG

    Guest Speakers

"Never stop being curious. Always try to know why, what and how situations happen" was the advice given to us today by Mr. Michael Greenberg, medical Doctor at Sanofi Pasteur, guest speaker for the Science and Technology Comittee. We had the honor to interview him with Mr Angus Thomson, director of the Vaccination Policy and Advocacy at Sanofi Pasteur.

Delighted by the concept of the ILYMUN conference, Mr Thomson believed it was an "interesting experience", very constructive for the members participating. Indeed, discussing concrete global problems is a challenge for every student, yet our guest speakers insisted in the "energy, focus and will" they found in every single delegate. It is a "great and efficient confidence building exercise" that trains the youth for future career perspectives. Mr Thomson added the fact that he felt "reassured" by the idea that the younger generation is able to have an impact on the world of tomorrow.

Regarding the organization of the conference, both Mr Thomson and Mr Greenberg agreed that they were amazed that everything "started from scratch" and became an international conference through time.

ILYMUN 2015 is an "absolute success", and is a great perspective for the future as great engagement has been shown and creative decision taken. Furthermore, our guest speakers added that the city of Lyon would benefit from this conference as it shows the investment made in education.

"The future lays in your hands now" stated Mr Thomson. It is our role to influence people and believe in our decisions. Together, united, "ideas generate" which will enable us to be the change we wish to see in the world.

    GENERAL

    ASSEMBLY

REPORT At one o'clock today, the General Assembly started, the theme being Goal 2030. The goals were divided into three parts: economic inequalities, health, human rights, the Non-Governmental Organisation respectively being OXFAM, Amnesty International and Mdecins Sans Frontire, each one being debated one at a time. The debate will later lead on to the voting procedures of the donation of a thousand euros to one of the NGO.

The first goal was Economic Inequality. Three clauses were submitted, with only Chinas passing : The United Nations, with the intention of drastically reducing the number of under aged workers, condemns all firms using under aged workers to an economic penalty. The profits of the firm will be divided in two equal parts, one being donated to the affected families, the other going to the state enforcing the sanction. The delegates voted in favor of an amendment made by Germany.

It modified the word Demands with Requests and added The reward is in form of economic aid to the scientific community of the countries awarded in order to find viable ways of creating/using renewable energy at the end of the clause.

After Germanys and Russias clauses were refused, the Chair announced that they would now be moving on to the next goal: Health. Sierra Leones delegate proposed a clause encouraging other nations to support LEDCs and MEDCs in overcoming pandemics by developing treatment centres and community care centres, providing

infrastructure, doctors and medical supplies, stimulating the research for cures, fostering communication between countries and further encouraging prevention

    !26

  • 24 JAN 2015 INTERNATIONAL LYON MODEL UNITED NATIONS

programs for pandemics diseases. This clause was accepted and the Chairs allowed the Assembly to fill with the sound of the clapping delegates.

The problem of Human Rights was then discussed, starting with the delegate of Mauritania who submitted a c l a u s e . I t c a l l e d u p o n t h e protection of minors from any type of excessive labour and abuse, reinforced by the countries government aid. To illustrate its point, the delegation used the example of globalisation of human forces or putting an end to child labour. To accomplish this, Mauritania, being in a difficult position financially, required the help of the UN. After further discussion, the clause passed and the delegates clapped loudly to show their enthusiasm. The room erupted into cheerful laughter when the Chairs logged into Facebook to find one of the clauses, the computer screen being

    projected on a large screen.

The committee moved on to the second part of the debate, where the delegates chose the organisation receiving a $1000. After a five minute break in which the delegations were permitted to discuss, the debate continued. Delegates supporting their NGO, were called to explain their preference on the floor. The delegate of Egypt chose to support Mdecins Sans Frontire and assured that Health is more important because everybody has to be healthy to work. Later on, the delegate of Afghanistan stated that the Human Rights were the priority. Other countries like Australia agreed and spoke to support the previous delegate. One delegate stood up to

support the OXFAM organisation, by affirming that poverty is the cause of many global issues such as famine, dictatorship etc. The house is finally moved on to voting procedures. Finally, the Mdecin Sans Frontire organisation won after a tight draw with Amesty international. Interestingly, OXFAM only got six votes. The Chairs allowed everyone to clap, thanked them for their passionate speeches and understanding of the issue.

    CATHERINE SIMON, INNOROBO-INNOECHO

    Guest Speaker

Catherine Simon, one of our guest speakers, spoke about how the future of robotics will change the future and contribute to the sustainability of our planet. She showed a video about future technologies which she believes will be smart enough to do human jobs. She is the CEO of Innorobo, a conference started in 2011, exhibiting technological innovations that will help the world of the future. We caught up with her after she spoke in the Economic and Social Committee about the Global economic inequalities.

What do you think of the MUN concept and why it is important?

I think its a great idea to have a high school, young people, getting interested in the problems and issues of the world. I think (...) [it is important that] we prepare [for a world] with (...) great issues and that they are aware of it and can help us build their future to be a better future. [It] is a very good idea.

Do you consider ILYMUN to be a success?

I think it is, I have seen a lot of young people in the corridors, in the committee rooms. They seem to be very serious at trying to tackle the worlds issues. I think its at least bringing awareness of those issues and how complicated it is at a world wide level to try and solve them.

Do you think it will lay the foundation for future careers?

Well, laying the foundation for future careers in the UN, I dont know. (...) I think it will raise awareness about how fair we must be in the world, how we must reduce inequalities: economic inequalities and social inequalities, how poverty needs to be tackled and that probably, in the jobs of those high school students will have, they will try to be (...) more fair toward the population and their environment.

Do you think that early awareness is best for consolidating the future of the next generation?

I think it will make young people aware [that] we need equity. We need fairness in that world., We need economic distribution to be more (....) [equal] and that what is important

is not being wealthier, its to be in a world where everybody is living well (...) with healthy conditions.

    !29

  • 24 JAN 2015 INTERNATIONAL LYON MODEL UNITED NATIONS

How is your profession an inspiration to the delegates?

I think (...) Im looking at our new technologies changing the way we live in society so you know its digital, robots, its automation and this is changing our relationships [with] objects. This is changing the way we work; this is changing our life. The way I think it can be an inspiration is [it] may be a bit (...) of the economical and the technological progresses and breakthroughs that change our world. So you know making people aware at the economist stages, or the political stages of our technologies, are changing the world. I think I can inspire people to look not [at] technology as a bad thing, because technology is bringing wealth (...) and better well being for the people. [However] the inevitable technological progresses can be [a] source of wealth, and needs (...) to be tackled and well organised so that it doesnt lead (...) to terrible economic problems and inequalities.

How do you think robotics will solve societal challenges and contribute to a sustainable planet?

I think today, new technologies (...) enable us to solve diseases and increase the health globally of the people. We can now cure diseases that we were incapable of curing before. I have seen a baby (...), a few months ago, who could not live because he couldnt breath, but we could print in 3D a specific bone that he was lacking (...) at birth. (...) They printed, very rapidly, in an organic type of material the bone that was missing. They implanted [the bone] (...) [into] the newborn child and they saved that child in two hours. (...) I can see that its improving our quality of life and especially assistance to our seniors. We have a demographic problem worldwide, our population is getting older but we live longer because we make progresses in medicine and health cures. So, now we dont have not enough people to take care of the elderly. So, how are we going to do that? Technologys going to help us take care of our elderly. We maintain them in their homes, which is much better than putting them in specific institutions, and provide them with autonomy. Another technological breakthrough is about disabilities. You know giving back autonomy to disabled people by [making] them capable of walking again with exoskeletons or with biomechanical prostheses. Its really a great improvement in the quality of life of those people. (...) It not only solves problems of human beings [but also of] medicine and health. It potentially solves or contributes to solving the problem of energy distribution and energy consumption. (...) We know we are going to lack energy if we increase our well being globally. We are going to consume more electricity, more power and more energy. How do we do that with the lack of petrol (...)? Being able to be moderate in our consumption of energy, and not spending when we dont need to, can be done with home automation and better organised cities where electricity is not spent when its not needed.

    !30

  • 24 JAN 2015 INTERNATIONAL LYON MODEL UNITED NATIONS

Do you think robots taking peoples jobs is a good thing?

I think technology -its not just robots- it is technological progress and [a] breakthrough. I think its a good thing overall. The wealth of the different countries and the people is globally increasing thanks to new technologies, so we shouldnt fight technological progress. We should embrace technological progress and invent a world where those technological progresses are integrated into our life and our life is better. However if we stay at the technological progress just taking my job away, then no, it causes a problem because then we have the rich getting richer. So what we have to do is (...) organize the distribution of wealth so that everybody is better off thanks to technological progress. Its like the comparison in the video that I showed the committee, it was about horses and horses are better off today than they were before automobiles. They were carrying heavy loads, they were fighting on the battlefield, they were getting killed or used for very (...) painful jobs. Now, they dont have (..) painful jobs. I want humans to live better, embracing new technologies, but today the issue is really: how are we going to make that work in a world where technology can replace employment and replace labour in many

different jobs? We have 20-40 years to get prepared for that, its a global problem, its not just a problem of one country, so I think the UN is exactly the place to talk about that issue and make sure its not a problem.

Do you believe the new technologies will help the extra production that we need to achieve by

    2030?

Yes, because we have plenty of food, -it is not well distributed - but we have an abundance of food and production with less and less workers and yes, technology is helping us make sure we pay attention to our planet, that we consume less energy, that we are more efficient and more productive into everything we do, including producing food, providing healthcare and communicating one with the other. So yes, technological progress is helping society to be better.

Is this why you came to speak to us today?

Well Im fascinated by the fact that I believe we decide our future, fascinated by foresight, which is deciding that there are potential scenarios for our world to evolve, and that we can choose our future. So if we are trying to go (..) [towards] a fair world and we look forwards. Lets say my goal is a fair world and I look forward at what it is I have to do today. Yes, I think its [an] the appropriate way to try and say to young people that you decide (...) your future, you decide how you are going to embrace the technological progresses or the different evolution of society and what to do with it to make the world a

    better world.

SNEAK PEAK FROM THE 2014 ILYMUN

ORGANIZERS Today, the organizers of the last edition of ILYMUN came to visit us. It was a real pleasure for them to come back here, at the Hotel de Region. For this occasion we interviewed them.

First, we asked them about how it felt to be back here without being the brains behind the organization. Pauline Moussa, a previous admin, told us it feels less stressful. Most of all, they feel nostalgic and they want to take part in the experience again.

Then, Esteban Perrin, who has been a member of the press team for two years in a row, expressed his satisfaction about how ILYMUN went well this year. Pauline, added that she just arrived here but she can feel a good atmosphere.

Xavier Murillon, a previous member of the press team too, stressed the fact that this year, new interesting things have been set up like the photo booth with iLIONMUN, the ILYMUN Snapchat, the iLIVEMUN or the headshot of the admins.

Lastly, their advice for the current organizers was aiming to improve communication between the different committees, the admins, the press team etc..

Finally, Camelia Moudene, the previous Deputy Secretary General, told us that we should listen to each other and most of all, respect each other.

SUCESS OF THE SILENT DISCO The Silent disco is going exceedingly well. We interviewed people who were dancing and asked them for their thoughts on it.

The Silent Disco is really cool. You can dance and nobody cares. You can be yourself and its a g o o d w a y t o destress

    - S o l e n e & Clothilde, Lyon.

    I love it! Its a nice idea. You get t o d a n c e w i t h o t h e r p e o p l e without bothering them and the style of music is cool!

Its nice because we all have the same music, everybodys dancing it creates a good ambience

    -Clemence, Lyon

I really like the idea of the Silent Disco because when youre randomly walking in the hallway, you get to meet a group of people dancing without any music, its really funny!

    - Mateus

This year the DJ mixing for the Silent Disco was Alex. He had many playlists with various styles of music.

THANK YOU FOR COMING, SEE YOU

NEXT TIME, CHEERS! This is it, the journey has come to an end. Or has it is really? The MUN spirit, however, conveys the idea of change towards the multidimensional notion of sustainability. It is our generations duty to take part in improving the world we live in. An idealist message? I would not agree. It is a guideline to the way we live; a change of attitude is required and while it may be too late for the previous generation to make a significant change, we, as the youth of today must become actors in this world and carry the positive message of hope.

A first speech was given by Secretary General Harold Rutten. Then, after director of the International School of Lyons , Mrs Philip, brilliant speech, the International School of Lyons and Cit Internationale de Lyons chiefs of the Anglophone sections, Mrs Trout and Mr Miller, spoke and moved the hearts of our organizing team members who were congratulated for their amazing and hard work. A first video was then shown to thank everyone who participated in this years ILYMUN event when finally, a thunder of applause was given to our Secretary General Pauline Jottrand for her remarkable speech before closing the ceremony on a joyful note with the press teams final video.

We are not too young to give our opinion and join discussion. Pauline Jottrand
