Dawson Community College is located in Glendive, a picturesque Eastern Montana city of 6,500 people, nestled in the Yellowstone River Valley along the backdrop of the Makoshika Badlands. Ideally situated along I-94, Montana’s “Gate City” is about 3 hours east of Billings, Montana’s largest city, and about 3 hours west of Bismarck, the North Dakota state capital. Brimming with natural and agricultural resources, recreational opportunities and friendly people, Glendive is a community with a rich history and promising future.

Located in the heart of Montana’s Big Sky Country, Glendive is a sportsman’s paradise with an abundance of world-class hunting and fishing opportunities. Many students take advantage of Glen-dive’s moderate climate and 220 annual days of sunshine by pursuing outdoor activities. Montana’s larg-est state park, Makoshika, is just minutes from campus and offers 11,000 acres of exploration, hiking and camping opportunities. Dinosaur fossil hunting, disc golf, hiking, boating, paddlefishing, motocross, horseback riding, walking paths, an extensive park system and golf are also all available in the community.Did you know? Lewis and Clark spent their last night in Montana on the banks of the Yellowstone in Glendive.

Our Community

ContributeThe community is served by more than 250 businesses, including banks, specialty shops, restaurants, coffee shops, pizza places, salons, a bowling alley, golf course and a movie theatre. Dawson County Airport and Rimrock Stages bus service serve the community, making Glendive accessible from anywhere. The city is also home to Glendive Medical Center, a full-service hospital with 24 hour emergency care and full medical and surgical services.

With dozens of job openings in the community, Glendive Job Service connects DCC stu-dents to jobs with flexible hours, good wages, and opportunities for personal growth and skills development. Many students find a part time job or volunteer their time by serving in community organizations like the Boys and Girls Club and the Glendive Recreation Department.
