Today, more than 60 attorneys comprise our hospitality group,

assisting clients in all 50 states and internationally, in more

than 15 specialized substantive areas that impact hotel,

restaurant, and food and beverage brands. As a result of our

deep knowledge of the industry, we can respond quickly, work

efficiently, and anticipate and help our clients mitigate and

manage risk. We also quickly grasp the nuances of particular

situations and provide insightful counsel tailored to a client’s

particular competitive situation and business goals.

We represent a wide range of hotel and resort owners from start to finish with development projects, financial restructuring, acquisitions, construction financing, ground leasings, entitlements, and environmen-tal reviews. We aid in construction, labor, license and management agreements. We work with global brands and owners to protect their intellectual property, expand their reach, manage their workforce, and address daily operational issues. We also assist large corporate and institutional clients with portfolio acquisitions, timely divestitures, and financing arrangements.

We have represented hotel clients in billions of dollars of real estate transactions, financed by groups such as Goldman Sachs, Chase Manhattan, Morgan Stanley, GMAC, GECC, HSBC, AFL-CIO Building Investment Trust, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, EuroHypo, and many others. We have created joint ventures that combine developer expertise with investors in search of high returns. We are leaders in the representation of cross-border investments, and are experienced in tax treaties and the corporate structures that best service the international investor. We have formed a China Outbound Direct Investment group to assist Chinese hotel investors from our Shanghai and domestic offices, recently completing the acquisition of five boutique San Francisco hotels for client APIC/Haiyi.
