seating with their classes. There will be guest seating directly

behind the student seating section. You are welcome to take

your 5th grade student with you after the reception, however,

you MUST check them out with a staff member. We will have

office staff and classroom teachers in the gym to assist you if

you are checking your 5th grader out before regular dismissal

time. If you wish to check out a younger sibling early, you must

A View Into Elementary Instruction

A new link for parents of elementary students has been added to

the new District Parents site (http://www.katyisd.org/parents/)

under the tab titled “CURRICULUM.” The title of the link is A

VIEW INTO ELEMENTARY INSTRUCTION and contains videos

describing balanced mathematics and balanced literacy, Pre-K

through Grade Five mathematical instructional videos on a variety

of topics, a sample Intermediate Word Study Lesson sequence,

parent resources for Word Study and Fine Motor Skills/

Handwriting, and access to Elementary Coordinators for parent

questions regarding instructional videos. We’re excited to share

that many of the videos are direct from our own KDE webpage!

This link is continuously being updated with additional

instructional videos and resources. You are encouraged to

check back often.
