#3: Moral vs Freewill Honestly, all you people are crazy. Its silly to think in any way that

keeping this bird alive is a good idea. Think of all the bird meat we would

acquire from it, and others like these? Here, people, we have the answer to

world hunger. The possibilities are endless! We could eat it ourselves, or sell

it to other people so they could have something to eat, or do some of both. Ei

ther way, that bird needs to be shot down.

#4: Isolation vs Solitude Crayon + Paint + water = Art.Paint =/= Art.

If Crayon + Paint + water = Art, then Art - Water = Paint + Crayon.

However, one cannot have paint without water. Paint = Water.

Therefor; Art - water = Paint + crayon = Art = Crayon, where Paint =/= Art.

#5: Thoughts are Shadows of our Feelings

The clouds grew dark. Day turned to night.

The air seemed thik, it was hard

to breathe. Despite the clouds, the breeze

had suddenly become warm, and

welcoming. But then it turned to wind, and then storm. The breeze

became a 40 mile an hour barrage, pushing us back to the danger,

bushing us back to Sam.

Slowing. Bleeding. Ding. Wonder why. Wonder how. Who

cares? What’s the point? I don’t know. Lots of colors. Explore

the deep. Listen hard. Listen fast. Survive.

#7: I change myself I change the world

If one never “changes” they become stuck, doing the exact same

mundane thing every single day. Content, maybe even happy, but

not taking full advantage of all the options they might be pre

sented with. New experiences, new ideas, new “this is my favorit!”

is what life is all about. And these are all thanks to change. The

shedding of the old, to try outthe new. FEAR tells us the “differ

ent” could bring anything. Its a risk, a bet. Maybe it brings wealth,

maybe poverty, maybe success, maybe failure.

looking at it, understanding it, or

this art? Is there some meaning underneath it, or is it

just a bunch of random lines?

What did you notice about the way you responded to the prompts? Did it change throughout the project? The prompts I wrote are often random and contradict themselves. Most of them sound very much like a simple stream of consciousness. They can only be taken extremely literally, or extremely figuratively.

Give some examples of how the visual informed your writing. The visuals I created were the direct influence to my writing. Some quotes include; “World of extremes. Nothing is weird. Nothing is strange. No Sensitivity. No Medium. Just extremes. Just the big stuff...” And “You see colors; I see the black streaks between the lines, under the ridges and islands of graphite. You see art. I regret”

What was your favorite prompt and why? Prompt 1, Prompt 4, and Prompt 6. They are all personal in the sense that they represent my own beliefs, and they all are in the form of “stream of consciousness.” I like this form because it eliminates an official guideline, letting the author put exactly what they are thinking down on paper without havening to worry about a logical format.

What were your favorite materials and why? I really enjoyed doing the collage. It was the first one I have ever done. I also liked the black paper and colored pencils, as it provided a clean, sharp looking work place as opposed to all the other materials we used.

Give a specific example of places you took risks in your photography, art projects, and writing, explain how they are risks. Address both formal/structural risks and content related risks. Support with specific visual examples. As students, while writing we typically have to strictly follow guidelines, and create what is expected of us. I used the stream of conscious-ness approach that I previously mentioned in both my writing and art in an attempt to break away from what I am use to, and create something that was unexpected, and different.

What are some consistencies you notice in the formal qualities of your works? Are there things you always do? Is your line quality consistent; is your compositional arrangement consistent? Explain. Support visually with specific examples. My work tended to contradict itself; “Love and hate, anger and lust, lost, alone. Stuff, things.”

What are some consistencies you notice in the conceptual approach you took to your pieces? Do they have a consistent mood? Do they have a consistent energy? Support visually. Consistency in my work includes themes regarding regret, answers, change, and challenging the definition of art. Stream of consciousness is repeated through most of my work, art and writing. Also, all of this work is personal, reflecting my beliefs one way or another.
