Credits include over 1,400 movies, TV shows, and commercials, including Splash, Overboard, Star Trek and TV series including A-Team, Riptide, Hart to Hart, Charlie’s Angels and others. In 2000, David Grober created the Perfect Horizon camera stabilization system. It won a technical Emmy Award in 2004, the Academy Award for Science and Technology in 2006, and the Society of Camera Operators Award for Technical Achievement in 2014. Perfect Horizon credits include multiple James Bond films, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Bourne Identity, Blue Crush, Step Into Liquid, Chasing Mavericks, The America’s Cup and others. DAVID GROBER HAS BEEN ELECTED TO MEMBERSHIP IN: Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Screen Actor’s Guild, Director’s Guild of America Los Angeles Adventurer’s Club.

AUTHOR OF ARTICLES ON FILM PRODUCTION: INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER, ON LOCATION, and SHOOTING COMMERICALS.

INVENTOR:

Designed and built the “Perfect Horizon” Camera Stabilization System. This patented motion picture camera stabilization head has been used in numerous feature films, television shows and commercials as well as the 2003 America's Cup. Mr. Grober holds three patents.

PORPOISE Robotics: STEM Education

In 2011, the U.S. Navy Office of Naval Research (ONR) hired Mr. Grober and his team to create a nautical themed robotics program to engage middle and high school students in higher levels of STEM study. (Science Technology Engineering Math). PORPOISE Robotics successfully launched at Washington Prep High School in Los Angeles, and has expanding to other schools in LA, San Diego, and elsewhere. PORPOISE produced a very successful four day Maritime Career Program, which included engineering tours aboard two of Scripps’ research vessels, an Aircraft Carrier, a Nuclear Submarine, and lectures from naval engineers, Special Forces, and civilian engineers.

NOTRE DAME – OFFICE OF NAVAL RESEARCH

Mr. Grober is a collaborating engineer on a U.S. Navy – Notre Dame program studying oceanographic/atmospheric ducting as well as deep ocean research. He built a stabilization system for a Coherent Doppler Lidar used about the RV Atlantic Explorer in the Atlantic. The program continues aboard the RV Sally Ride off the west coast in September 2017 and to the Bay of Bengal in 2018. Mr. Grober participated as a scientist/videographer on an Office of Naval Research program in Palau aboard Scripps’ RV Roger Revelle in April 2017.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:

Mr. Grober has volunteer taught at multiple Los Angeles inner city schools. He helped found multimedia programs at Jefferson and Hollywood High. For his community service work he was chosen by the Los Angeles Times as a community hero and further honored to carry the Olympic Torch in the 1996 Olympic torch relay preceding the Atlanta Olympics. Mr. Grober has been a Big Brother in the Los Angeles Big Brother program. Executive board member: “THE YEAR OF THE COAST”. Created by Congress, Mr. Grober served as a board member and produced the national TV campaign environmental awareness effort. Executive board member: "Catalina Island Conservancy Divers”

GROBER URBAN FARM In 2016, Mr. Grober created, at his family home in Evanston, Il., a organic urban farm and initiated horticulture classes for middle and high school students. Classes were 3 days a week for 12 students aged 11-14. The program is continuing in summer 2017 with High School students. The Grober Urban Farm also became part of the city of Evanston’s youth summer employment program. Grober Urban Farm is a 501(c)(3).
