Expressions of Gratitude
We would like to express a special thank you to DJ’s
grandmother, Hattonia Holliday and his Aunt, Shawn
Allicock for their tireless efforts. They both helped to
make our lives easier by caring for DJ every day so that
we could continue to work. They took him to doctors’
visits and hospital stays at Duke University in North
Carolina. We love and appreciate you for placing your
life on hold for our little boy. May God bless you so you
can continue to be a blessing to others. We also wish to
thank everyone for your many expressions of sympathy,
acts of kindness and most of all the prayers. We couldn’t
have made it this past year without them. The family
would like to also thank the nurses of Duke PBMT 5200
floor, CHKD 8B HEMOC floor hospital staff, and
Edmarc Hospice for Children. Special Thanks to
Centerville Chapel and Grace Episcopal Norfolk for all
of the love and support for DJ and our family. David L.
Holliday we love you dearly. But God loves you best.
See you when we get there. Your family

Life Reflections
David Levelle Holliday “DJ” was born on December 19, 2014 to David
L. and DaVette Holliday. He was a happy, healthy, strong and extremely
bright child with an infectious smile. DJ was diagnosed in the summer
of 2018 with an extremely rare cancer and lost his fight on July 4th,
2019 at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.
DJ attended exercises and agility training at the Little Gym located at
Landstown Commons in Virginia Beach. There he excelled in running,
jumping and walking on the balance beam. He demonstrated great
leadership abilities. All of the other children would stop and follow his
lead, sometimes to the dismay of the teachers. One teacher commented,
“Everyone knows and loves DJ”.
At two years old he attended Emmanuel Episcopal Day School. He
astonished his teachers because he could recognize and read not only
his name, but all of his classmates’ names. Being an avid reader and a
tech savvy child, he mastered the use of Bible Story Applications,
YouTube, ABC Mouse.com and other learning tools on his iPad, Tablets,
and smart phone.
DJ spent a lot of time with his friends Daniel Tiger, Peppa Pig, Mickey
Mouse, Cookie Monster, Sponge Bob Square Pants and his best friend,
Thomas the Train. He enjoyed puzzles, painting, coloring, building
cities with his Thomas the train superstation and building blocks with
his dad. He also loved making music with his personal miniature
instruments and had a heavenly singing voice.
DJ was predeceased by his older sister, Monica Turner; paternal
grandmother, Rachel Spraggins and paternal Grandfather, David
Taylor.
He leaves to celebrate his life, legacy and cherished memories, his
parents, David & Davette Holliday; grandparents, Rev. David &
Hattonia Holliday; Aunts & Uncles, Sandra Hudson (Henry), Charles
Spraggins (Sam), Ernest Spraggins (Michele), Shawn Allicock, Antawn
Holliday (Olga), Brenda Moechoe, Alethia McRae, Carolyn Taylor &
Vernon Darden(Janice); Special little cousins Sydney, Peyton, Jazmine;
and a host of other cousins, Great Aunts, Great Uncles other relatives
and friends.

A Special Angel
There is a special angel in Heaven that is a part of me
It is not where we wanted him, but where God wanted him to be
He was here but just a moment like a night time shooting star
And though he is in Heaven, he isn’t very far
He touched the hearts of many, like only an angel can do
So we send this special message to the Heaven up above
Please take care of our angel and send him all of our love
No farewells will be spoken, we will soon meet again
“DJ”, you are in our hearts until our lives comes to an end
In remembrance of DJ please consider a donation to the following

Little Engines
Little Engines, Little Engines
Little Engines can do the biggest things
Little Engines, Little Engines
Little Engines can do most anything
They will carry on until the work is over
They will carry on until the very end
They are the smallest in the station
but don’t underestimate them
They are not such little engines after all
