HOLIDAY HOME WORK (2013-2014)

Dear Parents,

Holidays are time when you can connect with your child in many ways.

As you are your child’s first and most important teacher, you can

encourage your child’s love of learning by participating in educational

activities at home. Working together on the activities will help your child

build confidence, learn to reason and develop skills necessary for his/her

education.

Take your child for a morning walk, talk about things you can

see around.

Let your child help around the house doing small jobs like dusting,

cleaning the table, filling water bottles, watering the plants etc.

To spend some quality time with your child, take them out for a

movie or any other picnic spot and have fun together.

Play out door games, Computer games are fun. They sharpen

your intellect, but what about rest of your body? You do need

some exercises, don’t you? Go cycling, play bat ball, cricket,

kho-kho, hide n seek. Anything that will make you run.

This is your chance to look after your parents, grandparents,

elders and even your younger brothers and sisters. You can

surely be of some help around the house.

Speak in English with your friends and family members. Learn

new words and try to use them in your day to day life.

And now just to be sure, that you are up to the mark, in your

studies too, here are some fun filled holiday activities, and that

we are sure you will enjoy doing.

READ ALONG:-

Reading good stories can be of great fun, so divide your time in a balanced

way assign equal time for T.V Shows, Computer games, Physical exercises,

Reading e.t.c .Read more and more story books. This will not only improve

your reading skills but it will also enrich your vocabulary. So after vacations

you will be ready to frame good sentences using new words. Moreover this

will help you in achieving medals for being good readers. Learn any 2 stories

with a moral. Make puppets or masks for each story; prepare it for the

narration in the class. These stories will be assessed for Unit Test.

While spending quality time with your child, make him/her read the following

books:

1. Fairy tales like Cinderella, Snow White etc. 2. Stories from Panchtantra,Champak,Nandan,Nanhe Samrat

Read any one story from a story book and write 10 new words.

Arrange these words in alphabetical order and then write their meanings.

Well maintained notebooks and good hand writing is cherished by everyone. So paste all torn pages and iron the folded pages. Don’t you want to be best

student of your class? This is the key to success. Summer vacations are the

best time to do it.

Do ten pages of writing in your English Notebook. Practice writing every day to be perfect in it.

Do worksheet “Getting to Know you”, and paste your recent photo on it

along with your name.

Do worksheet (Word Chop) based on creative thinking skills.

Do worksheet (What doesn’t belong) based on logical reasoning skills.

Choose any English rhyme and learn it.
