DATV member Rob Dennis (r) recently interviewed talk show legend Phil Donahue (l) for an episode of “The Rob Dennis Show.”

Twice a month some of Dayton’s most talented performers and media members descend on the DATV studio for “The Rob Dennis Show.”

The show has become a viewers and volun-teer favorite and fea-tures local celebrities, nonprofit organiza-tions and more.

Rob has hosted the show in its current form for five years.

And according to Rob, “It is the longest running late night talk show format in Dayton’s history.”

It can be seen on DATV, Time Warner Channel 5 and stream-ing at www.datv.org on Tuesdays at 10:00 am and Sundays at 10:00 pm.

I’d like to welcome everyone to the “not-so-first” addition of the Viewfinder.

What do I mean by that? The Viewfinder is not new to DATV or its members. The Viewfinder was created in 1991 as a mechanism for keeping DATV members up to date on the current issues of the organization.

The newsletter’s last issue was published in 2007 and due to budgetary constraints, production of the Viewfinder stopped. Well here we are 7 years later and we’ve decided to bring the Viewfinder back to life. Though our budgetary constraints have not dimin-ished, we are committed to publishing The Viewfinder 4 times annually.

As in the past, readers will find articles concerning issues of importance to the organiza-tion, its members, as well as anyone interested in commu-

nity media. Additionally you will enjoy items highlighting

DATV members, showcasing new and emerging technol-ogies, lists upcoming com-munity events DATV will be covering, tips and tricks for producing better videos, and many other topics.

You will quickly find that The Viewfinder is not just a mem-ber’s only publication, but one that all who are interested in video production, technology, and community activism can enjoy.

I hope you will take the time to read The Viewfinder when it makes its way to your home or business. And I hope you will continue to support your freedom to communicate by supporting DATV.

DATV Summer Music Series In Full Swing

“The Viewfinder”Returns To DaytonStay informed about DATV activities and local Community Media in Dayton.

The first issue of “The Viewfinder”

was in September

of 1991.

Each Year DATV’s Volunteers travel to some

of Dayton’s best music festivals to help doc-

ument the action and to showcase the best

Dayton has to offer.

The 2014 version of DATV’s Summer Music Series includes many of Dayton’s favorite festivals. Included in the eclectic lineup are events at Dave Hall Plaza, RiverScape, The Dayton Convention Center and more. Dayton’s Urban Nights bookends the series with both the Spring and Fall event which highlights downtown’s music, dinning nightlife and entertainment. And has become a great way to discover the City.

Dave Hall Plaza is the place for a couple of Sunday summer favorites with the Women In Jazz and Reggae Festivals. The series also travels to RiverScape for the annual Dayton Celtic Festival and Hispanic Heritage Festival.

DATV’s member volunteers will again provide their services as members of the video pro-duction crew. To volunteer contact Dale Grow at [email protected].
