Supervision at Cardinia Primary School This is just a quick reminder to Parents and Guardians regarding the supervision of students at Cardinia Primary School on a daily basis. Though staff are in attendance from 7:30am onwards and many don’t leave until after 5:00pm each day, they obviously have preparation, meetings and work to carry out and therefore can’t supervise students at all times between 7:30am and 5:00pm. Before School Each morning from 8:45am until 9:00am a staff member is on Playground Supervision Duty. Staff getting ready for the day at this time assist with supervision as they move around the school. Recess and Lunchtime At recess and lunchtime three staff members are on duty at the front of the school, middle area and the basketball court. At lunchtime an additional teacher assists near the Ga Ga Pit and basketball court. After School We have two staff members on duty at the Hall gateway and Cardinia Road exit until 3:50pm after which time students who don’t have parents/guardians on the school site are asked to go to the main office area and wait to be collected by parents/guardians. The Ga – Ga pit is not to be used after school. If students haven’t been collected by 4:00pm parents are contacted by the office.

CAMP KANGAROOBIE 2017 Camp Information, Parental Consent and Medical forms have been sent home for those students

that have completed an expression of interest and paid the $50 deposit.

If you have completed an expression of interest but have not yet paid the $50 deposit, this is

now overdue. We now have a waiting list of students. Hence, if the deposit has not been received

you may lose your child/s place.

For further information, please see Mrs Chidlow or Mr Armstrong.

CHOIR

Monday, 15th May the Cardinia Primary School Choir will be performing two songs at

assembly to honour all our Mums.

All Choir members please continue to practise the songs at home, in private, during

the next week so that we can give our Mums a wonderful performance!

Thank you

On Tuesday, 23rd May, you are invited to Cardinia Primary

School to check out the amazing work our students do, and join

them for some fun activities in the classrooms.

The theme of the day will be Healthy Body, Healthy Mind. The day will start at 9:00am with

students in their own classrooms proudly displaying their work. Please take the time to wander

around the different rooms to see the hard work and dedication that has been put into each

piece.

You will then have the opportunity to complete a range of different activities in each

classroom. After all the fun and enjoyment of the morning, we’d like to invite you to stay and

join us for an optional Subway lunch at 1:40pm.

A Subway lunch order will be sent home with every student this week. Parents, toddlers and

grandparents are encouraged to also order Subway, to support our healthy body theme! Each

person needs to fill out a separate Subway lunch order. Extra Subway order forms will be

available at the office for grandparents, toddlers, parents, etc. Lunch will be at normal time

(1:40pm) on the day, and we encourage families to stay and share a healthy lunch with their

children at school. Subway lunches will be delivered in class boxes, to students’ normal

classrooms. Extra family lunch orders will be included with the YOUNGEST child’s lunch.

A Subway lunch order is $7.00. It includes a 6 inch sub, a fruit snack pack (or cookie) and a

water or a milk. Please include correct money with order form and return to the office, in an

envelope clearly named. Orders need to be at the office by Monday, 15th May.

PLEASE NOTE: WE CANNOT ACCEPT SUBWAY LUNCH ORDERS AFTER THIS TIME.

Shop lunch orders will still be available; however we encourage a healthy choice to support our

theme, so please avoid ordering chips or fried foods. We thank you for your cooperation.

Calling all parents,

grandparents,

aunts, uncles and

special friends!!

Parent and Guardian Code of Conduct

Rationale

At Cardinia Primary School we believe that parents and guardians have a responsibility to ensure they actively

engage in their child’s education and form partnerships with both the school and their child’s classroom teacher to

maximise the learning opportunities and educational experiences of their child.

We strongly encourage parents and guardians to be actively involved in the school community and express freely any

concerns or queries they may have about any activity or event.

We know a child learns behaviours and values from the example their parents/guardians, teachers, peers and people

around them display.

While displaying inappropriate behaviour is often the result of many factors, parents and guardians can reduce

incidents by being good role models and helping to create a positive school environment in which their child can be

valued.

Code of Conduct

The parents and guardians at Cardinia Primary School will:

• Ensure their child arrives at school on time each day;

• Inform the school as soon as possible about any absences their child may have;

• Ensure contact details for the child, parents/guardians and emergency contacts are correct and up to date;

• Take an active interest in their child’s educational progress;

• Support their child to assist them to be organised and develop independence;

• Encourage children to accept responsibility for their own mistakes and encourage them to be learning risk-

takers;

• Understand and support decisions made by the school;

• Treat all staff and members of the school community with dignity, respect and courtesy;

• Respect student and teacher work spaces, classrooms and the staff room, especially during class time;

• Keep themselves informed by regularly reading the school Newsletter, their child’s

Communication Book and any e-mails received from the school;

• Recognise that others may have different views, opinions and values to their own;

• Value and recognise the efforts of everyone;

October 2015

Parent and Guardian Code of Conduct

• Actively communicate in an appropriate manner with the school any issues that may arise by following the

process outlined in the ‘Concerns and Complaints Procedure’. At no time should a student or a parent of a

student be approached about an issue;

• Show respect and courtesy at all times when assisting with School Council, Parents’ & Friends’ Club and other

parental/guardian activities;

• Respect individual student’s right to privacy by not sharing with other members of the school community any

information obtained while assisting with classroom programs (i.e. reading);

• Model positive behaviours and set an appropriate example in matters of language and behaviour when at

school.

• Do not discuss students or parents in a negative manner with other members of our School Community.

KEA CUP! A big congratulations to our Cardinia Primary School netballers. Thank you to all parents and supporters for the day. The students were amazing and their overall sportsmanship was outstanding. A great result, with one team finishing 5th in their pool and the other finishing 1st.

The team that got first got to play finals against the top of the other pools. Finals were exciting and we came runners up by only one goal. Special mention to Jehi E who was picked by officials as the overall MVP player for the whole day.

FAMILY & FRIENDS’ DAY – SUBWAY REMINDER! Due to the large volume of orders for Subway, please ensure orders are

received at the office by MONDAY, 15th MAY.

Please note, we cannot accept any lunch orders after this time.

All orders need an order form with the money enclosed in an envelope.

Head Lice There have been a couple of Head Lice cases reported to the school. Parents, please check your

child’s hair and, if required, treat accordingly. A follow up treatment will be required to ensure they

are no longer present. Your co-operation in this matter would be appreciated.
