April 26-May 2, 2018 Classroom News Pre-Kindergarten: Pre-K is learning about the letter Gg. On Monday, we found glittery gold in the playground! On Tuesday if we can name 2 things that begin with Gg we can earn a gold chocolate coin! When our buddies come, we will play games for the letter Gg. Also, many of our students are becoming pattern experts. Grade One: We are looking forward to a busy Spring here in First Grade! The eggs have arrived and are currently incubating in Second Grade. Our Butterfly and Ladybug larvae have also arrived. In Math, we are focusing on addition and subtraction fact families. Soon we will be learning about place value and then on to addition and subtraction of two digit numbers to 20. We have begun Unit 6 in the Reading program. Please check to be sure your child’s name is clearly marked in sweaters and sweat shirts (uniform). As the weather warms up, some children remove them at recess and we want to be sure to return the clothing to the right child. Also, please send water bottles every day! Classroom News Grade Two: We are finishing our unit on forces and wheels in Science and will have our test next week. Our new story will be “How Groundhogs Garden Crew” by Lynne Cherry. Reading logs for April will be collected on Tuesday, May 1st. We are incubating eggs in our room and the chicks are due to hatch on May 14th. They will then go back to Casey Farm. We will be going to the farm in June. We have been preparing for First Communion by receiving unconcecrated bread and practicing how to walk with prayerful hands. In Social Studies ,we continue to learn about patriotic symbols. Hope to see many of you at the fundraiser. Have a great week. Grade Three: I hope everyone had a great vacation! Welcome back! We are finished with division and now going over how to tell time. We will be learning when and where to put quotation marks in writing. In Social Studies, we will begin discussing the different branches of the military. We are physicists in Science right now talking about physical changes and characteristics of solids, liquids, and gases. We are very busy! .

Classroom News Grade Five: Fifth grade is excited to be back to school. In ELA, aside from Spelling, we are working with transition words. In Math, we are beginning a unit on Geometry. In Science, we started learning about environmental Science. In Social Studies, we are discussing Westward settlements in early America, and in Religion we are talking in depth about the sacrament of Confirmation. We plan to finish the school year strong. Spanish: Lower Grades: We’re reviewing our food vocabulary and will learn how to order at a restaurant. Upper Grades: We’re preparing for a test on Chapter 3 that will happen the week of May 1st. Please have students use their flash cards for vocabulary and review how to conjugate AR verbs, Ir, Dar, and Estar. Library/Media Center: Thank you to Emma Asselin for the donation of 15 gently used books. As you do your Spring cleaning remember the Library if you have any gently used books. This month we have on display, Grade 2’s “cereal box” book reports and Grade 3’s “pop up” art projects. Great work!!

Classroom News Grade Six: Thank you to everyone who supported our bake sale! We made enough money to pay for our bus!! Grade Seven Math: The students did a great job on their bridge projects! Many are on display in the upstairs hallway and in the foyer.

IMPORTANT DRAMA INFORMATION

Here is the Practice Schedule for the remainder of time left. Please make every effort to attend Practices. There are only 2 weeks left until the Performance Day!

Tuesdays until 3:30: Good Witch & Munchkins, Bad Witch & Sidekicks and Farm

Characters Wednesdays until 3:15: Leads including Good Witch and Bad Witch and OZ characters

Additionally, we have added a longer practice on Friday, May 4th until 5pm (with a

snack provided). ALL Cast and Crew!!!!!

MANDATORY Dress Rehearsal is Friday May 11th at St. Rays. We have shortened the length of rehearsal to 5:30 - 8:30. Please eat dinner before and we will provide snacks

and water.

Performance day Saturday May 12th at St. Rays: Students must arrive at noon and stay until 9:30pm. Please eat lunch at home and we will provide dinner, snacks and water.

Costumes!!!

The following characters need some basic items as a base to their costumes. If any of these items are hard to find, please let us know and we will help! Please send these items into a practice prior to Dress Rehearsal and we will have all items labeled and stored for the day of the show. Students can wear other clothes on Performance Day so that these

items do not get dirty in between shows during dinner.

Munchkin girls: any color (preferably bright) tank top

All Employees to OZ: a white shirt (preferably dress or polo) and black pants or skirt

Witch’s Sidekicks: black tights and black dress shoes

Leads: We will be in touch individually.

Crew: Please wear all black to the show!

All students must wear black or neutral shoes for the show.

St. Teresa School Drama Club

Dear Parents/Guardians, Our students and teachers are working hard to prepare for their upcoming production of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz on May 12th. We will be putting together a program booklet for the show. If you would like to send an encouraging message to your child, which will be included in the program, we ask you to complete the form below and return it to the school by May 4th. To defray the cost of the production and program, we will be charging a modest fee for your message. The cost for a text-only message is as follows:

April 11, 2018 Dear Local Business Owner, The St. Teresa School Drama Club is presenting the play “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” on Saturday, May 12, 2018. We are currently seeking sponsors/advertisers for our program to help defray the cost of the production. We invite you to place a full-color advertisement in our program for a nominal (and tax-deductible) fee. Ads will appear in the performance program given to all in attendance at the play’s multiple showings. Pricing and ad sizes are as follows:
