Detailed Description

BMNT, w/Stanford’s Preventive Defense Project intended to Identify new solutions to emerging OE challenges1. Recruit the

people who can make it happen

2. Show the DoD how to engage Silicon Valley w/challenging problems & build networks of people to solve them

Provide an overview of DoD’s energy

resilience framework. Review development

of policy and business case analysis (BCA) approaches to

support budgetary or alternative financing

opportunities.

Highlight building auditing approaches that can significantly reduce cost and time while providing greater insight.1. FirstFuel is a

remote auditing technology that leverages meter data to identify operational and retrofit energy saving opportunities.

2. Essess uses thermal imaging & advanced data techniques to build a highly-scalable building envelope analysis tool.

Highlight new approaches to HVAC optimization 1. High

Efficiency Dehumidification Systems (HEDS) can cut cooling loads by up to 30% by eliminating reheat energy required for humidity control.

2. An estimated 1.6M Roof top units (RTUs) can be modified to add full control and optimization capability and up to 37% efficiency improvement.

1. Describe examples where behavior change campaigns have been used in the past to alter people’s use of energy

2. Quantify level of energy savings resulting from behavior change campaign

3. List reasons for failure

4. Describe what it takes to sustain campaign savings
