District 10 4-H Conference This conference gives youth & adults the opportunity to expand their 4-H knowledge. There will be 11 rotating sessions. For more information on sessions and registration click here. Conference is Saturday, September 29, 2018. Registration deadline is September 14. 2018. $30 per person (Lunch& T-shirt provided) at the Comfort High School, 143 US 87, Comfort, Tx. 78013

4-H New Enrollment and Re-enrollment began September 1, 2018 All members must re-enroll every year. Enrollment will be on line via the 4-H Connect system. If you are planning on participating in any 4-H activities in the September 2018 - August 2019 4-H year, you must enroll on 4-H Connect. Instructions on how to set up a new profile or how to re-enroll on 4-H Connect are available here. Forgot your email or password, please contact us and we will try to help. AS YOU ARE ENROLLING AND YOUR CLUB DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THE DROP DOWN LIST, DON’T PANIC! ALL CLUBS HAVE TO BE CHARTERED EVERY YEAR AND THE PROCESS IS TAKING LONGER THAN NORMAL. WAIT A WEEK AND TRY AGAIN. To keep updated you can visit our website, the 4-H newsletter and 4-H calendar is posted there for your use.

Cross County Transfer Request Who needs to complete a transfer form? If a youth who wishes to join 4-H does not meet one of the following criteria, they must submit a transfer membership form: 1. Live or reside in the county which they are joining 4-H, and/or 2. Attend school in the county which they are joining 4-H Please note: 4-H members/families who requested a transfer in previous years do not have to submit a request for the 2018-2019 4-H year. Quality Counts Quality Counts verification will be required for all 4-H members exhibiting livestock (market and/or breeding) at all major livestock shows. Quality Counts verification involves an on line course and to complete an exam. The course will take about 2 hours, please plan ahead and give yourself enough time. You will need to create a profile on their website. Members can access the website here. Please print out a copy of your certificate with the Quality Counts number on it.

2018 Livestock Validation Schedule Information: All 2018 Livestock Validation dates and locations have been set for the year.

Sheep & Goats:

o October 11, 2018 – 3 – 6 p.m. – O’Connor High School

o October 16, 2018 – 3 – 6 p.m. – James Madison High School

o October 22, 2018 – 3 – 6 p.m. – East Central High School

Fall Heifers:

o October 27, 2018 – 9 – 11 a.m. – East Central High School

Texas 4-H Rabbit Extravaganza Information: This Extravaganza will have a Youth Rabbit Show, Arts & Crafts and educational

Swine Validation Tag Order Information: If you will be exhibiting market pig at the 2018 Bexar County Show or the 2019 major

Bexar County 4-H Open Horse Shows • Information: These shows are open to all 4-H members in any county 4-H program. Entry form is available here. • Dates: Saturday, September 29, 2018 – Deadline is September 19, 2018, November 10, 2018 and March 23, 2019 • Location: Guadalupe County Fair Grounds, 728 Midway, Seguin, Texas 78155

Fall Heifer Validation Tag Order Information: If you will be exhibiting a heifer at the 2018 Bexar County Show or the 2019 major

San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Set Up Information: SALE will be setting up pens in the Swine Barn on Saturday, October 27, 2018. If you are interested in helping, please fill out the release form here and bring with you to set up. If you have any questions contact Joslyn at [email protected].

Date: Saturday, October 27, 2018 – begins at 8 a.m.

Calf Scramble Information: If you are 12 years old (before August 31, 2018) and will not be past your junior year in

high school, you are eligible to participate in the calf scramble. If selected to scramble, you will attend a rodeo performance and attempt to catch a wild calf. If you catch a calf, you will receive a certificate to purchase an animal, you then are required to exhibit it at the show the following year. REMINDER: You are not eligible to scramble at a show where you have previously caught a calf. You must be enrolled in 4-H for the 2018-2019 year, you must also be academically eligible at the time of scramble. If you are interested in participating in any of the major show (Ft. Worth, San Antonio, Houston, San Angelo, Star of Texas) calf scrambles, complete the form here and return it to our office as soon as possible. You are welcome to fax the form to 210-631-0429 or scan and email to [email protected].

Bexar County Junior Livestock Show – Livestock Animals, Ag. Mechanics, Creative Arts

Information: Bexar County Junior Livestock Show rules, registration information and entry forms are available here. All 4-H clubs are welcome to invite a representative from the BCJLS to go to a meeting and answer questions. You can contact them at 210-960-1239. • Date: Deadline to enter this show is Thursday, November 1, 2018 on their entry website. Bexar County entries should be given to your 4-H club leader. Please check with your club leader on the club due date.

South Texas Double Trouble Prospect Show Information: For more information and entry form click here. Date: November 3, 2018. Deadline is October 19, 2018.

Walk Across Texas Kick Off Information: Show off your SUPER strength by competing in our 8-weekWalk Across Texas! Challenge. Form a team of up to 8 people. Come join us for some fun while you burn calories. There will be fun physical activities such as: Jump Rope-A-Thon, Limbo-Mania, Frisbee-Fun, Volleyball- Blanket and an obstacle course. We will also have a tasty healthy snack and a delicious smoothie to try. For more information click here.

Entomology Practice

Information: This entomology practice is a fantastic opportunity for young naturalists to explore the vast world of insects and related arthropods. Members will learn how to identify orders/species of insects, interact with live specimens, and study under a certified entomologist.

Shooting Sports Coach Training
