It has been a tough week for our community, following the tragic events of last weekend. We have been impressed how our students and staff have looked after each other. Jordy Purcell was a member of our graduating class of 2016, his spark has been extinguished too soon. Our thoughts are with Jordy’s family and friends and all those connected with this tragedy.

The wonderful Mrs Nadj took 16 of our students to the Hume Cross Country Championships at Winton Raceway on Wednesday. All students ran well. We take great pride in congratulating Toby Prothero, Riley Thomas and Jirri Prothero who all qualified for State; a sensational achievement!

There has been huge anticipation around for those waiting for this year’s Production “This Is Me”. Reviews coming in from those who attended last night’s opening performance are fuelling this. It is the hottest ticket in town with only minimal tickets

available for tonight’s and tomorrow night’s show.

Thanks to Mrs FitzRoy for taking our Year 12 Studio Art students to the “Top Art” exhibition in Melbourne. This showcases the very best of student work from last year’s VCE, giving our students a great measure for what is required. Thanks to Mr Shaw and Mrs Crouch for taking our Year 9 Recreation class to enhance their archery skills down at Woori Yallock yesterday. Thanks to Mrs Malcolm and the Year 12 Sport and Recreation class—our lunchtimes have been action packed as “PE Fortnight”

continues.

Our Year 10s will not be in class next week as they are out experiencing the world of work. This is a great opportunity to get a taste and some extra knowledge around potential future career pathways. We wish our Year 10s a happy holiday and all the

best with their work experience.

We remind any students interested in attending the Mittagundi 10-day program that they need to write a letter of interest, addressed to Mr Lyttle, stating why they would like to take part in this challenge. Letters should be handed to the front office by Monday 24th June. Please see Mr Lyttle with any questions regarding this opportunity.

Choosing to be at school and choosing to learn and so improve our future lives is a positive and clever choice. It is normal to

get sick this time of year, so keeping this in mind it is important to avoid unnecessary absences.

Who We Are? RESN is a free service for regional and rural students provided by a team of passionate VCE and IB graduates. We are dedicated to the goal of providing access to high quality VCE tutoring for regional Victorians. We are a charity funded by donation and do not pay salaries to our tutors. We want to bridge the gap between the services available to metropolitan and regional/rural students: that's why we decided to create a free, online tutoring service designed for the 21st century and available to all students outside of the city. What We Offer? RESN aims to provide students with: 1) Explanations to tricky questions and concepts within 24 hours. 2) Reviewing of essays by a second set of highly skilled eyes within 24 hours. 3) Opportunity for students to ask questions about exam preparation and university life 4) Leadership opportunities within the RESN family even while still at school. 5) Tutoring and administrative positions with the RESN team after completing school. Safety: At RESN, safety is our number one priority. As a minimum requirement, we require all tutors and administrative members of RESN to have a valid Working With Children’s Check (WWCC) which may be sighted upon request. To see exactly how our processes work and the safety measures we have undertaken to protect our students, please review our Safety Guidelines at https://www.resntutoring.com/safety Useful Links: 1. Creative Workshop – Year 7 English

Authors Craig Dent and Lauren Habarow visited us

last week and ran a creative workshop for some

Year 7 English students. The workshop was based

on their book, 'The Day Twoey Took A Screamer', a

tale about a cockatoo who plays Aussie Rules. Our

Year 7 students were asked to create and visualise

characters and enjoyed using alliteration to

describe these characters. They also drew colourful

images of their characters using different art

techniques.

Students and community enjoying the U3A trivia night. Well done Vet Hospitality Students who prepared and served the 55 very happy customers to great acclaim. They showed great professionalism.

Mookie and Nat were proud of their efforts, especially after a big school day.
