DescriptionDescriptionDescriptionDescriptionDescriptionThe AUTOCALL TFX-500M/MV and

TFX-800M/MV are modular by design. One or more annunciation modules maybe configured into the system for statusindication of points, zones, type of alarm,or other user selected functions. Switchmodules may be configured for control ofHVAC fans, dampers, door holders, noti-fication appliance circuits, or other con-trol points as required. Enclosures areavailable in four different sizes to accom-modate all system configurations.

Up to 1600 discrete contact inputs andvoltage outputs in any combination, maybe configured into the TFX system. These are typically used for audioevacuation and HVAC control switches, and annunciation LEDs at the main (or aremote) control panel.

New and existing, conventional 2- or4-wire smoke detector circuits may becompletely supervised by the AUTO-CALL TFX-500M/MV or TFX-800M/MV.Conventional circuits are interfaced byusing an IXA-500DMA Addressable De-tector Monitor Module or an MDM521Multi Detector Monitor Module, placedanywhere along an analog, addressablecommunications loop.

The AUTOCALL TFX offers a ULListed alarm verification feature for usewith a 900 or 550 series analog addres-sable detector, or any connected, con-ventional detector circuit (IXA-500DMAor MDM521).

Up to seven (7) remote operator con-trol panels may be connected to aTFX-500M/MV or TFX-800M/MV panel. These remote panels may be configuredto duplicate the LED and LCD displays, control switch functions, voice alarmmicrophone, and firefighters telephone.

When used with 900 or 550 series analogsmoke sensors, the AUTOCALL TFX panelsprovide continuous detector sensitivity moni-toring, and automatically compensate forenvironmental influences. Alarm and pre-alarm threshold smoke levels may be de-fined per device and may be automaticallyor manually switched between multiple sen-sitivities based on the time-of-day, day-of-week, or date.

Our exclusive CONSYS software con-figuration tool for site specific user pro-gramming easily guides the trained in-staller through a menu prompted deci-sion process.

Remote FunctionsRemote FunctionsRemote FunctionsRemote FunctionsRemote FunctionsThe AUTOCALL TFX features an

RS-485 Remote Bus for connection tovarious remote operation and displaypanels that provide all of the functionsavailable at the main panel, includingLED annunciator, LCD display, andcontrol switches.

Other remote bus functions includeremote printers (up to 16) to print a logof system events, and discrete inputsand outputs for annunciation and con-trols. Remote bus functions may be up to4000 feet (1219.2 meters) away from themain panel.

System ComponentsSystem ComponentsSystem ComponentsSystem ComponentsSystem ComponentsThe AUTOCALL TFX-500M/MV and

TFX-800M/MV system components areidentical except for the TFX-800M/MVExpansion Motherboard and Loop Ex-pansion Board. Each panel consists of abackbox(es), door assembly(ies), rearmounted system electronics, and frontmounted system electronics.

Backboxes The TFX-500M and TFX-800M control

panels use the same family of backboxes invarious sizes. Backboxes may be orderedseparately to allow for electrical “rough-in”during construction. Rear mounted sys-tem electronics are mounted on remov-able rails and installed in the backbox.

Since the TFX systems are modular,

be displayed on the LCD orprinted.

Coincidence alarm grouping(cross-zoning) relates multipledevice actuations before confir-mation of an “alarm” occurs. Theuser may select the number ofsuccessive device actuations (2,3, or 4) required to trigger anoutput response.

The user may assign differentcoded patterns to audible andvisual signal circuits. These pat-terns are typically used to differ-entiate between “alert” and“evacuate” conditions. They mayalso be used as auxiliary signals, such as tornado warnings.

The AUTOCALL TFX-500MVand TFX-800MV provide single, dual, and three channel voice(audio) alarm and evacuation systems.Tones, recorded voice messages, andlive voice instructions may be broadcastautomatically and manually to selectedzones, for controlled evacuation pur-poses. Auxiliary tones may also bebroadcast to signal emergencies suchas tornado warnings.

Typically, the messages are broad-cast to the areas immediately surround-ing the detected fire emergency, e.g.:the floor of incidence, the floor above, and the floor below. The message usu-ally begins with a brief alert tone, fol-lowed by recorded voice evacuation in-structions. In two or three channel sys-tems, different messages are simulta-neously broadcast to areas away fromthe detected fire emergency.

Other options include redundant(backup) audio amplifiers, which auto-matically switch over in the event of pri-mary amplifier failure; distributed ampli-fiers for large systems; and multiple firecommand stations for control of the sys-tem from multiple locations.

Network CommunicationsNetwork CommunicationsNetwork CommunicationsNetwork CommunicationsNetwork CommunicationsFeatureFeatureFeatureFeatureFeature

Any AUTOCALL TFX fire alarm controlpanel may be connected to the TFXnetnetwork. Each panel maintains full stand-alone capability while also operating aspart of the larger system. No master or

host controller is required. True peer-to-peer event exchange permits the send-ing and receiving of event information viathe network, to distribute and coordinatesystem wide control.

The network supports a variety ofcommunication media and wiring topolo-gies. This means that the TFXnet Net-work may be applied to existing site lay-outs and wiring schemes, as well asthose employed at new installations.

A fieldconfigurable LED next to each switchmay be assigned to indicate the status ofany configurable control point. (The LEDneed not be controlled directly by theadjacent switch.) LEDs are removable;

backboxes are furnished in 3-, 5-, 7-,and 10-module sizes. The size is selectedto accommodate specific system require-ments, including multiple power sup-plies, input and output modules, and bat-teries.

Door AssembliesDoor assemblies, finished in red, are

available in various sizes to match thebackboxes. 3-, 5-, and 7- module sizes arealso available in gray finish. There are twostyles to chose from: Basic and Architectural.

Basic Style doors have a simple metalframe that houses the front mounted systemelectronics. Operator buttons and functionsare accessible without opening the door. The standard AUTOCALL lock is providedfor access to rear mounted system electron-ics. A clear acrylic door is optional, for pro-tection of the operator controls.

Architectural Style doors have a styleddoor frame and a clear, separately hingedacrylic door. A dual keyed lock has anoperator’s key which opens the acrylic doorfor access to the front mounted system elec-tronics, and a service key which opens thedoor frame for access to rear mounted sys-tem electronics. The architectural style doorprovides a true “dead front”feature, allowing access tooperator controls, and limitingaccess to rear mounted sys-tem electronics.

Rear Mounted System Elec-tronics

The RPS-424 and DCPM,AUTOCALL’s solid state elec-tronic power supplies, provide filteredregulated DC power to the AUTOCALLTFX series fire alarm systems. TheRPS-424 converts 120VAC primarypower to 24VDC, 5VDC, and 15VDC.The DCPM converts 24VDC power fromthe RPS-424 to the supply voltages nec-essary for the TFX family. The powersupply monitor modules (models500PSM and PSM) moni-tor the RPS-424 and pro-vide visual trouble indi-cators of faults.

The Multipurpose In-terface Module (MPIM)serves as the communi-cations interface be-tween the main proces-sor and various systemperipherals not on the addressableloops (i.e. front door displays, switches, zonal LEDs, printers, auxiliary relays,

IAM-800

IIB-800

etc.) Each MPIM is user defined for thespecific functions of the peripher-als tobe interfaced. The MPIM and associatedperipherals may be used lo-cally or remotely, up to4000 ft.(1219m) (RS-485Remote Bus).

The Expansion Moth-erboard (IAM-800) andLoop Expansion Board(IIB-800) are used onlywith AUTOCALL TFX-800M/MV panels and pro-vide the expansion flexibility for 198-990points (2-10 loops). Up to five (5) IIB-800loop expansion boards (2 loops each)may plug into the IAM-800 motherboard.Alarm notification appli-ance circuits on eachloop operate indepen-dently if the main proces-sor fails for a degraded sys-tem operation.

The IIB-800 loop expansion board en-ables two (2) analog, addressable sig-naling line circuits. The IIB-800 pro-cesses signals received from all deviceson each circuit. EachIIB-800 is interfacedvia the IAM-800 to theTFX panel main pro-cessor.

Digitized Message Modules provide adigitally recorded custom voice messageup to 40 seconds long. The messagemay be configured to play immediatelyupon receipt of an alarm, or after a briefalert tone. The message may be config-ured to repeat a preset number of times,or to repeat continuously.

Channel Select Modules (CSM-500)provide three (3) speaker circuits, StyleY or Z, rated at 36 watts each. Circuitsmay be field configured for 25 or 70 voltoperation. This module includes the logiccircuitry for channel and priority selectionfor up to three (3) audio channels. Eachchannel is separately switched into one, two, or all three speaker circuits. Usuallylocated remotely from the TFX panel, it isconnected to the addressable loop, andrequires the following per speaker circuit:

-One OXA-501SDA plug-in module for

single channel systems,OR-One OXA-501SDA plug-in moduleplus one (1) OXA-503RM plug-inmodule for 2-channel systems,

Master Communications Modules(MCM-500) provide a microphone with apush-to-talk switch for broadcasting liveinstructions to selected zones. A mastertelephone for two-way firefighters tele-phone communications is provided asan option. When provided, the mastertelephone occupies the same moduleslot on the door assembly as the micro-phone. Using switches on the StatusControl Modules, the operator may se-lect speaker circuits for broadcast of livevoice instructions, connect to incomingcalls on the firefighters telephone circuit, and connect any firefighters telephonedirectly to any speaker circuit, allowingbroadcast of live voice instructions fromthe firefighters telephone system.

Microphone Modules (P/N 5200-524)provide a microphone with a push-to-talk switch for broadcasting live instruc-tions to selected zones.

TheMultiDetec-torMoni-torModule (MDM521) connects zones ofconventional 24VDC detectors and in-terfaces them to the AUTOCALL TFXseries fire alarm systems. The MDM521provides eight Class B (Style B) zones.

The MDM521 fully monitors each initi-ating circuit of conventional 24VDC de-tectors and signals the control panelupon alarm, open circuit fault, or powersupply fault. Each zone reports as asingle address to the AUTOCALL TFXseries control panel.

The module is compatible with 2-wireor 4-wire, UL Listed, low-voltage,conventional, point-type detectors ornormally open contact initiating devices.Up to 30 detectors may be connected toeach initiating circuit, depending uponthe specific detector used.

Amplifier Modules provide two (2)25VRMS or 70VRMS supervised audioout-put circuits to drive fire alarm speak-ers. The total power output of each ampli-fier is 150 watts when used with powersupply P/N 5290-027.

If necessary, the amplifiers may bewired so that one amplifier may back upfrom 1 to 5 main amplifiers. During bat-tery standby, amplifiers may be shut downautomatically to conserve power, untilneeded for tone or voice communica-tion.

Power Supplies are used with the am-plifier modules. P/N 5290-027 provides8 amps of power at 24VDC.

Signal Generator Modules containtone/voice generated modules. Plug-inslots are provided for one fire tone, onebackup fire tone, and two auxiliary tonegenerators. The fire tone generator iscontinuously supervised for tone output. If the main tone generator fails, the systemis capable of switching over to an op-tional backup tone generator. The signalgenerator module also incorporatesvoice communication inputs for the mi-crophone and digitized message mod-ule.
