Job-embedded Professional LearningDeliberate Practice-Intentional change in instructional practice where teachers grow their expertise through a series of planned activities, reflection, collaboration and evaluation.

Student Needs Goal• 65% of students in the SWD subgroup will meet
proficiency levels in reading on DEA, EOC or state exam.
• 60% of students scoring a Level 1 or 2 will increase proficiency in reading as evidenced by DEA (or other measures available).
• 65% of my students will make learning gains in reading as measured by DEA (or other measures available).
Teacher Needs Goal My goal will be to increase my
understanding and mastery of the new LAFS by participating in a LA standards professional learning community. I will also use DEA to provide continuous monitoring for student progress in reading.
PDP Goals
• Using the hard copy of the PDP and the SMARTER Goals chart, individually write a SMARTER student and teacher goal.
• Share at your table.
Teacher Self-AssessmentPGS Section I• Self –Assessment helps teachers focus on
areas of growth and professional development needs. – The self-assessment is the same as the
teacher evaluation observation rubric.– Should be completed prior to the teacher
writing his/her goal.– Does not impact teacher evaluation.

– By the end of the first nine weeks grading period (Oct. 21), teachers will
• Write SMARTer PDP goals using current student data (self-assessment data, student data, teacher certification needs, school improvement needs)
• Identify professional development needs
– Be sure to share/finalize before exiting

• On PGS using the drop-down menu select no more than 3 training areas that will help teachers meet their student and teacher goals
Reflection/Tracking Progress
• On PGS/Section 11, Step 3
• At the end of the 2nd nine weeks of school, (end Jan. first of Feb.) teachers will complete section 11, step 3 by reflecting on “Deliberate Practice” and the data resulting from the Deliberate Practice.
