● View from the balcony informs the steps being taken on the dance floor

● Teachers use aggregate data to drill down to classroom and student level

● At all levels District/School/Classroom we:⚫ Ask questions about what we see ⚫ Articulate the challenges we face⚫ Seek solutions to improve teaching & learning

PSAT/NMSQT (redesigned)Preliminary SAT/National Merit

Scholarship Qualifying Test

➢ College and Career Readiness with a focus on Algebra

➢ Administered in-school to every grade 10 and grade 11 student.

➢ Grade 10 – encouraged to take the exam without much/any prep. The score report received provides detailed feedback.

➢ Grade 11 – encouraged to look carefully at feedback report from their grade 10 test performance. Grade 11 scores are used for National Merit Scholarship Qualifying.

➢ Redesigned PSAT offers detailed and personalized plans for improving performance

10

Page 11: Data Presentation Part 1: CAPT, PSAT, SAT, ACT Region 9

PSAT/NMSQT (redesigned)Summary

➢ The redesigned PSAT does not allow for multi-year comparison

➢ (Evidence-Based Reading & Writing) ERW performance stronger than math

➢ Math performance is lower than ERW across the state

➢ Plans are underway to disaggregate results, track math course history, and develop ways to address weak skill areas especially in Algebra

➢ One intervention path: utilize study/lab periods to provide units connecting and reinforcing math/science skills
