    Dear Ms. McKinney:

On Sept. 1, 2010, Mark Rotenberg issued a press release about the death of Dan Markingson in response

to an article I had written for Mother Jones magazine. According to Rotenberg, the issues surrounding

the death of Markingson were reviewed by the University and its IRB. He goes on to write that

these reviews found no fault with the university or the researchers involved in the CAF study. That

press release can be found at this address:

    http://www.health.umn.edu/media/carlelliottresponse/

Pursuant to the state open records act, I request access to and copies of each of these reviews thereview conducted by the University, and the one conducted by the IRB.

I will pay up to $1000.

If my request is denied in whole or part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific

    exemptions of the act.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Yours sincerely,

    Carl Elliott
